Upgraded Drill Bits and Shop Accessories - Chicago Latrobe, Angle Blocks and V Blocks Type B
Amateur video work and amateur hobby machinist. Videos of me working on various projects in the workshop and around the home. Work using my Vevor MX400 Mini Lathe and Precision Matthews PM-25MV Benchtop Milling Machine.

Those drill bits made you wince a little when you bought them, but you get to smile every time you get a nice clean hole that starts on center and doesn't wander. Just remember, per piece a drill bit is a lot cheaper than most other cutting tools, much easier to resharpen, and will probably last longer too.

Yeah, I am ready to slowly...update my subpar tooling. Slowly and with my most used items that are problematic. Thats the focus this year but at the moment slowing down. Need to pace the spending a bit.

Yes more good shop items, fun time to play i use my gauge angle block all the time had mine like 7 years now.

I've already found a handful of projects where I wish I had the angle blocks..now I do. good pick up for the shop for sure.

The number drills are sized spot-on on the flute end for American made. The drills taper back to the shank to allow chip clearance. The set should last a lifetime and individual replacements can be obtained from McMaster-Carr and others. Sizes smaller than 3/16" get progressively more difficult to sharpen by hand because of the larger web thickness in relation to the drill's diameter. In the smaller sizes they are so inexpensive that I usually don't bother trying to sharpen by hand. A good drill sharpening machine is helpful here if you have one. Cheers from NC/USA

No drill bit sharperning machine but maybe someday. For my usage it may be more economical to replace if/when that time comes for any drills that need it. I have already used a few of these and there is no comparison to the cheap ones. Tehre shouldn't be but I can confirm now that I made the right choice to get some quality drill bits. Looking forward to using the VBlocks and Angle gauges as well. Thanks for the comments and tips

I've been very slowly buying up tooling, waiting impatiently for used gauges and fixtures on eBay or Facebook, but also buying things direct from China. If you don't mind the (currently) 3 weeks wait, you can sometimes save 30-40% for the exact same thing you get on eBay/Amazon. And there are some premium manufacturers that you won't see their items anywhere else. Like I just got a bunch of stubby DLC coated drill bits. I think Wen is on par with Vevor, from what I can tell. They don't manufacture anything, just slap their name on a product and sell it. If the angle blocks were made correctly, you should be able to wring them together.

I agree with everything you have said. When I wsa buying small hooby electrical components I used alliexpress. The ysell everything and sometimes is super cheap but as you said can take several weeks to get delivered. As you said if you dont mind waiting there are alternatives to purchasing off amazon or ebay or other places. I will try to wring the blocks together but I dont have high hopes they will.

i realised i need more toolpost holders for the quick change TP so that is my next purchase. only $40 for 5 on amazon

I bought an additional 5 for my AXA, I have 3 extras in the drawer. For the price, I like having them on hand. Good purchase to make in my opinion.
