Been told it’s better to have it low. Co2 is heavy than the air we breathe so you would get a better reading. Don’t know how much truth there is to it

The carbon monoxide (CO) alarm is intentionally very loud - CO poisoning causes drowsiness!

Hey Will. Last summer I had to replace my sway bar links. I took my car over to my friends house who used to be a mechanic. After they were replaced, I told him one of my tires had a slow leak. So while it was off he took a bottle of windex and sprayed various parts of the tire and sure enough we found the leak. I saw micro bubbles right next to the rim. Fast forward to winter and a steep temperature drop and my alarm on my dash kept going off. So I made an appointment to get new tires. Got a call from my shop and they told me the tires are still good, they just needed to be cleaned around the bead and resealed. This saved me a good chunk of money. Depending on your financial situation and how old your tires are this could be an alternative for you. Hope this information can come in handy. Good show as always and all the best.

Don't worry about the placement on the Carbon Monoxide detector, they measure the concentration of Carbon Monoxide in the air which will flag anywhere in your vehicle high or low.

It's a good job the carbon monoxide detector didn't stick to the ceiling, because it should be at a lower level due to carbon monoxide being heavier than air. Where you have it now is perfect

I hope Will doesn't forget me when he becomes super famous. He will be rolling around in a custom made Mercedes sprinter van like Kara and Nate. For condensation use a sock filled with cat litter and leave it on top of your d.ashboard.

Absolutely love my rain guards...they make such a difference in keeping air flow at night...gets stuffy so quickly with me and two dogs sleeping in the Fiesta after 10 minutes. Best thing I ever bought for the camper conversion...and they look good too with the smoke color and dark grey of my car

Awesome vid mate keep it up. Oh and you don’t need to take the top off the window vac to empty the tank. There’s a rubber tab on the face of the tank, pull that and you can empty it that way.

We are just about to start on a very similar journey. We have a 2 berth small motorhome and due to C19, it has sat on the drive for a year and not moved. I also use my normal car for work so this year I am going to sell the motorhome and car and buy a Galaxy and use it for both. Convert it to a mini camper for getting away, and use if as my car for work. Thank you for the ideas and inspiration. Keep at it, cheers.

A bit of heating in there would be great. Diesel heaters whack out a huge amount of heat so I reckon you would need to keep a window cracked. We abandoned our window vac after a while as our windows were a bit too small for it. 👍

Happy New Year Will. Interesting video, love adding gadgets myself! I’d highly recommend a diesel heater, working in my camper at present with mine on - it’s 2 degrees outside, 25 degrees inside. If you go with the heater I’d recommend an ELEGIANT Wireless Weather Station (on Amazon) which is great for checking the temperature inside and out. All the best for 2021 mate.

like the window vac, i have wind deflectors on my van, helps a bit with condensation but always need to wipe windows in the morning so i may invest in one

The window vacuum is so addictive.... One note you dont have to take it apart to empty it. Just pull open the little rubber flap and there is a drain hole behind it...

Marchers use top to bottom downwards for better results where you can have had one for years great but for curved windows needs a bit more manoeuvreing. Keep safe.

If you didn't grease those dust caps take them off and do it. I had the same kit and learnt the hard way that they'll seize and ended up having to get the valve replaced.

Hi, now you have to bare with me on this as I am really off the wall with some of my ideas . . Why don't you fit a flexible solar panel to your top box, they just glue on, have a leisure battery in the car charged by you driving and the solar panel. An invertor, and then an electric blanket. . See the Diesel heater will heat space - then the heat will go out of your windows and create moisture. An electric blanket under you will warm you, not space. It will turn off if the battery full dis charges, but with the right battery that might be after a couple of nights, it will charge up the next day when the sun comes up or you start the car. Oh and where you going to store you diesel. . if you had a diesel car, yes but your car is petrol. . When you going to make use of the passenger footwell space, cause I have ideas for that too.

Haha off the wall ideas are always great! The flexible solar panel is a good idea for sure and perhaps something I should look into! I bought a 12v electric blanket but it doesn't seem to be working well at all. I probably won't do anything with the passenger footwell as I often have 2 people when I'm driving. More suggestions and ideas are always welcome :)

@@WillsWhereabouts Hi, bet you plugged the electric blanket into the accessory point, frequently they have a time or trip on them so it would have turned off, the passenger foot well is where you locate the leisure battery so you still have a passenger, wire the solar panel to the battery, add a socket and plug your blanket into direct. You need to look at ''Kingspan'' for insulation. will explain more another time got to go and fix something

You should look at getting a all in one diesel heater as long as you put exhaust outside and you have got your carbon monoxide tester they are absolutely brilliant

Yes mate, diesel heater :-). That would be a great idea :-), did you just build your own bed frame will??. Wind deflectors will make a big difference and that alarm was a must. Well done you.

Sensible upgrades Will 👍. I hear that diesel heaters can be a bit noisy in a small space, and also need a power source. I used a small gas heater in my van if the cold got too bad (cost about £30). I usually‘ toughed it out’ because gas heaters create condensation, but it was nice to know it was available.

@@WillsWhereabouts Amazon have them called Raxter or Bright Spark (I think mine is Highland) for less than £30. They take up less than a foot in space, and have a handle and sturdy base. Would heat your van up in 10 minutes I’d say. If you’re ever in Norwich you can have mine ! 😁

Hey Will, I’m glad you got the carbon monoxide alarm sorted. The Kartchër is brilliant but I never use the window cleaner, only the dryer. Try RainX anti fog on the interior windows, it helps reduce misting and is reasonably easy to apply. RainX water repellent is great on the exterior glass. Oh, while I’m here, get a few dehumidifiers from the pound store, it’s amazing how much damp they absorb. In the meantime, stay safe buddy. Rog.

I might take the credit for suggesting window deflectors 😉😊, looks great fella with all the additions. You might find the karcher will splutter when used upside down, but still quicker than using cloths.

Glad that carbon monoxide detector didn't stick to the ceiling. Carbon monoxide is heavier than air so fills from the bottom up. Better to have it low down.

Will, I’d like to suggest condensation traps for your overnight condensation issues, have you heard of them? Used on a boat & in a house on stilts! Very simple & effective!! 👍🏽

Been watching some of your videos. Great idea - well done! I have an estate car which I could do this with. How does it work re MOT? Can it be tested without the back seats etc or does it have to be registered as "something different" with DVLA? Thanks in advance xx

I installed the tyre monitoring system on my car. After 6 months I needed to inflate one of the tyres and the sensors had corroded onto the valves. Make sure you pop a bit of grease on the threads.

Can you get a insulated shield for you mini camper similar to a Motorhome one? it fits on the outside windscreen, stops all condensation and keeps the cab warmer. The one I bought was from silver screen although there are other kinds. 👍

Good to see you enjoying your new toys.... on the deisel heater,, they are good, I have two,,, but, they ruin your stealth,, they exhaust steam which is clearly visible in very cold weather,, probs after dark it wouldnt be such an issue... The fuel tank for deisel could go almost anywhere, you dont have to use the big plastic one that comes with the kit,, I made a small one from a 2ltr olive oil tin,, it runs for hours on that. The fuel pump has a slightly anoying tick when it runs with those chinese heaters. Lots of info online about that.

That’s good to know about the steam! I’m thinking I may give it a miss and just suffer the cold and when I one day get a proper van then I’ll get the heater.

I use car sox for the windows. I like to drive long distance with the back windows down a little, allowing the air to flow around the car. Hope you get a rescue cat or dog to join you. Could you do a blog on how you plan your trips? Hope you go to the Lake District and Falmouth.

Carbon monoxide detector ought to be placed low-down I believe. As carbon monoxide is heavier than air it will, in a confined space, build-up from floor. I got one in my car...it actually went-off couple times when fumes entered car whilst engine running cold morning.

good stuff the Alarm is good since you use propane containers, you are young and have a world to explore so better to be safe than sorry :)..or was it a normal fire alarm, you better get one that alarms high gas lvls to, I know of a family that died on a camping trip from gas

If you've got alloys then the likely cause of your tyre deflation will be the inner surface of the the wheel rims degrading and needing restoration. I'm useless at explaining it but I had mine done by a chap near Southampton and the problem went away.
