Received the message and went back to nam early to walk point - 3 Purple Hearts, Republic of Vietnam Palm and Cross Medal, Naval Service Award and Sgt. by age 20 then a Police Investigator and Polygraph Examiner ... David never got over losing his brother Marines while shortly gone on emergency leave ... Buried at Arlington National Cemetery in 1985 ... Rest In Peace with God ... Never Forgotten ... Our son disabled by Agent Orange - hips and legs at birth in leg braces, partially autistic, learning disabled with heart condition... My neighbor's husband a pilot was shot down and is M.I.A. in Vietnam leaving behind his wife and baby daughter when I was 17 in high school. Thank you sir for this video. God bless you.

Interesting, I participated on Operation Meade River from Nov 1968 to the final Day on December 9th 1968. I was in Hotel Company 2/5 Marines 1st Mar Div. We were under operational control of the 26th Marines. On the final days of the operation, Dec 7,8,9th My Company, H 2/5, A1/7 on our Left flank, Lco, Ico, & I believe Mco from 3/26 Lauch an attack into the Northern Bunker Complex, which was being held by the 36th NVA, & R-20 VC, in the Dodge City area. The Next three Days were the most intense combat, That I saw in Vietnam. I was wounded on the final day on the 9th. A High School friend, Herbert Skinner, who was with A 1/7 was KIA'd on the Dec 7th. A Sergeant who I believe was with Indian Company 3/26 recieved the CMH posthumously for his bravely on the night of Dec 8th.

I am a retired US Army Captain, and I tell you I am so impressed with this man. He tells it like it really was, without the BS . You can see it on his face, just how disgusted he was of war, and rightly so and especially about killing that woman NVA. When he spoke of the CO firing of a .45 pistol shot. That damn round alerted the entire NVA and caused the loss of many marines. I carried a .45 Pistol but never got to use it in combat. I had the pistol taken away from because some damn fool LT in base camp accidently fired his .45 and wounded another LT. We were told if it wasn't our issue weapon we weren't allowed to carry. Oh yeah and my M16 jammed twice and the second time got me wounded on my second tour. But here I go again. using this man site for my BS story. I could listen to this man tell his stories about the Vietnam War for hours. Thank you Marine for your service you are indeed a hero, whether you believe it or not. I went navy at 17 yrs old 73 I cant even imagine me being sent up to where you were and doing what you had to do. Ive lost some friends to agent orange and some more that suffer ptsd and others who loved the killing and did 2 and 4 tours. I am amazed at these stories of fighting in the jungle. You're story was a little different as to how fast you were thrust into the thick of it , glad you lived through that and are able to tell the story. You did what you had to do to survive , im sorry.

Amazing work! It’s an inspiring film.

Small world I suppose. I had the honor of serving as a :Marine in the “leatherneck square” area for about 11 months. My second wound sent me to the USS Sanctuary and on USNH Portsmouth where I spent just over a year. During my time in Corps I enjoyed the company and brotherhood of the finest people I shall ever know, and was treated by the greatest brothers and sisters in the medical profession.. I will say those little guys on the other team were some tough and brave folks too. BTW My second wound was on Christmas Eve, even though President Johnson, bless his heart, had declared a truce!

Dong Ha wasn't really as far North as you could go, but it was a lot further North that I ever wanted to be. The Marines could have all those hills. And, anyone who could use an Argus C3 knew how to take photographs. The light had to be metered or accurately guessed, and the f-stop and shutter speed set manually for each shot. Not to mention you had to remember to advance the film after each shot, and manually rewind the film before opening the back.

That VC soldier, he was defending his homeland, his country, his family and loved ones. He was a patriot fighting against imperial invaders and was willing to give his life for this cause. I was there ‘69-‘70 just after Tet. Please don’t glorify our oppression of these gentle people. We had no right to be there.
