Bolt is unique. 6ft 5 with fast twitch muscles of a much shorter sprinter, you can forget about all that running technique stuff. Bolt is the anomaly, the unicorn.
@christianrussberg45474 жыл бұрын
@Truly Charnock He already did? At 6'5 you can't be as technical as a 5'7 flo-jo. Your body just doesn't allow as fast of a stride frequency as a shorter person. Bolt relied on stride length and high (and late) top speed instead and destroyed the world record.

Actually she saves energy by mitigating her drive phase. Her ability to hold top speed for so long would have been compromised had she accelerated harder. She times this perfectly. Drive phases weren't really around in 1988. Funny that.

The reason why Bolt’s stride got slower is because he has longer legs. And the fact is that short distance runners have short and quick people and tall but kinda slow off the start people. So, when he said Bolt started slow, no he didn’t purposely go slow. His legs are really long and it just takes time for them to get up to speed. Sprinters DO GO 100% the whole way.

Bolt never had a good running stride, his starts are not the best, and he always decelerated at the finish line. Flo-Jo had good consistent starts, her stride was damn-near flawless, and she finished all the way through the finish line. She was a 1 in a trillion. Pure talent, and freak of nature. I think if Usain had her execution he'd go sub 9.35 easily. Both 1 in a trillion. Although Blakes 200m race in Brussels 2016, where he had a bad start but finished insanely with 19:26. He'd have smashed Usains 200M. I left the Army in 93, and I ran for Team Solent in the 100 200 4x100m. My fav was 200m. My hero was John Regis. I was same build. But in both 100 and 200m just outside the Sponsored to train full-time. My weakness was my start. I planned to take a year off to concentrate on my start like Colin Jackson. Mike Smith (Rip), was the legendary 400m coach at Team Solent. He trained Roger Black, Ewan Thomas, Chris Akabusi to name a few. He was Team GB sprint coach for 88 Olympics. He said My start needed loads of work, but my pickup was astronomical and elite level. I was clocking 10.71 as a P.B in 94. 0.4 secs away from Sponsored full time back then. My 200 was 22.95, so definitely needed work. The world records back then were still sensible lol. I was only 22. So if I took that year out, I'd not miss much, as I could Peak around 25 to 27. But injury in the Docks forced me to quit. I was only Southern Mens League level and 2nd B race sprinter. So not the best. But the next level up was Elite level British League and International vest. I have no regrets in not making it. I knew deep down I would. Injury just happens, and its life. I broke my back in 03 on a weekend off from T.A SAS Sig Sqn selection, doing a charity parachute jump. Iost everything in 06. I'm now disabled and 48. With no chance of working again. At least I have great memories of being a mega fit Soldier/Athlete, freestyle Street and break dancer. Took yrs to grieve what I lost. But I love Athletics, and love seeing great races. Think there will be another Bolt and Flo Jo. Just when? But they are legends, and will always be them. Rip Flo Jo. That's your business. In terms of positive discussion: data and science demonstrate (as per the video) that Flojo executes the race superiorly to Bolt in terms of max speed maintenance/ cadence and stride frequency.
