In February 2009, Bolt got into a car wreck that totaled his BMW-M3. Usain was not able to train for almost a month. If this did not happen, then the 200M WR would be 19.04 - 19.10 at least. I have stated this before & I stand by it.

Great discussion. I love this channel and the honest perspectives. However, we keep talking about Noah breaking Bolt’s 200m record. Have he ever broken Yohan Blake’s 19.26 sec. Why are we pivoting Noah to 19.19 and he has not touched the 2nd fastest time by Yohan? Beat that first.

bolt went from a pb of 19.30 (a hair faster than lyles current pb of 19.31) to 19.19. he never ran 19.2. who's to say lyles won't do the same? lyles may never break 19.31, but he certainly doesn't have to become the second fastest all time before he can become the fastest.

This is what I keep explaining is so different about Bolt and FloJo. Someone may KISS their World Records, maybe even Elaine/ShaCarri beat the 100M, or Elaine/Shericka beat the 200M, BUT, Bolt and FloJo ran all those rounds. Even more hats off to FloJo, she ran those rounds FAST AS FUQ, setting Olympic records basically every single round, and in the 200M she broke the World Record twice in that one Olympics! All these stars today, have assistance from track bounce and these trampoline shoes, and still have to run the rounds SLOW in order to save enough energy for a final! Noah is good, but he was tired as HECK from running all those rounds in Budapest. Bolt is the man no matter what.

@@daltonsmith9724it’s the ignorance of present day individuals. So much changes with people, training, technology, etc., every single World Record will eventually be broken. Remember when everyone said FloJo’s records are 100% impossible(?), and now, everyone is looking at Elaine & ShaCarri on a major WR watch, while expecting every single person to run an easy 10.6, as if that time isn’t damn-near impossible?

I think before Usain, Florence Griffith Joyner was one who broke records in the 100m and 200m all within the same championship/olympics when it counted (Semis & Finals). Flo Jo did break the Olympic Record of the 100m during the heats twice, won gold there and then broke the Olympic and World Record in the 200m multiple times back at the 1988 Olympics. It's quite unbelievable that during the era of Flo Jo and Bolt, they did 4 rounds, that's crazy especially if you're an 100 & 200 runner.

Noah is definitely very fast and has done marvelous things in his career, so far. However, I just don't think he'll ever break his personal best of 19.31 seconds in the 200m for the remainder of his career. Now, I may be wrong, but based on my instinct and what I know about track and field, that's how I feel. I'm not saying the record can't be broken, but I don't think he'll do it, partly because he has made it too much of a focus. It's easy to say you're going to shave 9 hundredths of a second (which is an eternity in sprinting) off of 19.19 seconds for 200m, but it's already an extremely herculean task to shave even one hundredth of a second from that time (much less 9 hundredths). I think at his current age, Letsile Tebogo stands a better chance of approaching or breaking the record.

Looking at the numbers, Noah ran 19.52 in the '23 WC 200m Final after 3 rounds of the 100m & 2 rounds of the 200m which was slower than his 19.47 SB from a few wks prior @London DL & slower than his 19.31 PB from the '22 WC 200m Final where he only ran the 200m. Is he talking about running 19.10 in a Global 200m Final after 5 races in his legs or in a one-off DL race?! One of the biggest 'What Ifs' in the sport is what if Bolt had really gone after his 200m WR after '09? Truly believe if he had cleaned a couple of things up, he would've run something in the 18.99 - 19.09 range under optimal conditions! If that had happened, I don't think Noah's WR talk would be taken seriously at all! We arguably have the best/exciting collection ever of 20/21yr old 100/200m sprinters in Letsile Tebogo (9.88/19.50), Erriyon Knighton (10.04/19.49), Udodi Onwuzurike (9.92/19.76) & depending on his situation Issam Asinga (9.89/19.97)! Wanna see Norman (9.86/19.70/43.45), Kerley (9.76/19.76/43.64), Kenny B (9.89/19.68/44.73) & even Gardiner (10.35/19.75/31.52/43.48) try to join that small sub 10/20/31/44s club! 26:35; Not quite true, Brazil (38.19) were the slowest qualifiers from the semi for last yr's WC 4x1 Final as 12 of the 16 Teams in the semi ran between 37.67 - 38.89. France (38.06) was 6th in the Final as BRA & RSA didn't finish the race. 38.92 is still a highly impressive time for HS & most College Teams.

Noah trying to do the triple like bolt but the thing is he ain’t got the abnormal frame like bolt in his prime were he can run a 9.58 and still had enough energy to run a 19.19 in negative head wind. The race took a lot out of bolt his form was also not the best. It’s pure power he used to reach the line. With a tail wind and better form bolt could’ve reached 18.99. Knighton will be the one to break the 200m record. He's already run better youth times than Bolt did and already has the 5th fastest time ever. He's coming along nicely!

Noah should drop the 100 meter he ain’t bolt or yohan blake who had crazy amounts of endurance. Let’s not forget that bolt takes less steps and had insane endurance where it looks like he keeps accelerating but in reality all his competitors are slowing down very fast while he maintains top speed. Noah is a powerful sprinter when it comes to top speed but running the 100 meter and 200 meter will be draining for him especially at Olympic level

@@GladwinAbel yes. Nobody in the world is Bolt or Blake because they have no copies. The cream of the crop. Top 2 best ever by a mile. Trying to emulate them will mostly bring pain to these athletes. Sad as it may sound. And I totally agree with you. Nobody comes close to Bolt and Blake.

The USA and Yaad are probably the only two countries where high schoolers go sub-40 in the 4x100. If i recall, Calabar ran about 39 flat at the Penn's, in the time of Michael O'Hara on that 2nd leg.

Briana's move to John Smith is great. The move to Titans made no sense as that club is unproven, and the coaches have no experience training female athletes. Of all the clubs in Jamaica, why she chose that one remains a mystery.

Lyles has all the coaches to tell him how to break the record, simply run as fast as he can from start to finish. Not at this Olympics, unless he focuses on 200 M only based on the preliminary rounds.

Well if Bolt actually sprinted to the finish line in every race he would have a world record that would have lasted 100 years. But Lyles is a showboater too. They need to watch FloJo Sydney and Athing to watch true champions sprint across the line in every race

Noah with alllll the right elements could possible get 19.18 but he's not the talent Bolt was. Bolt would have smoked him most days. The 100m record will be around for a very very very long time and the athlete that breaks it is not currently running on the circuit. Might not even be born yet 😂
