Use Serato Stems without giving up a pad mode!!! (DJM S11 but will work with others)

*Meant Horizontal lines when talking about the Stems icon, not vertical.
This is just a video to show you how to easily midi map a user pad mode on you controller or mixer to the new Serato Stems features. It's pretty easy to do and makes it so you don't have to give up a pad mode in exchange for using the feature. When I actually did this a couple weeks back, I noticed that clicking the different areas can be a bit finicky when midi mapping, so be persistent and move the mouse away from the area and back in again and it will eventually allow you to select it and midi map it. I totally forgot about the user pad mode! I've read the manual a ton of times before and after I got my mixer, and before you could finish, I knew exactly where you were going with this! I will be setting this up this weekend...THANK YOU!

If I'm not completely mistaken, your turntables are the legendary SynQ X-Trm1!! I used to DJ with them, waaaaay back in the days, but now I only kept one of them as my home record player in my living room. Amazing player from the grand Super-OEM era and exceptional value for money - even when compared to the GOAT Technics 1200. Plus, they are STILL available at some online retailers to this day!!

These are Audio Technica 1240USBXPs. The Reloop 6000s looked like this as well. As you said, it's just the basic Hanpin style but AT made some minor alterations to the form factor.

@@GODInTheWax444 Thanks for the reply man!! Oh yeah, I completely forgot about the AT 1240USB. A Hanpin OEM on "steroids", since it offered USB connection to record via Audacity, in addition to the standard layout. Man, and that Reloop 6000 in its all-white chassis... How could I forget that one?? Thanks for the fond memories, glad to see that some DJs are still using super-OEMs to this day!

You can also map the parameter left and right buttons to ‘vocal only’ and ‘instruments only’ to get the full experience on user midi mapped pads. I don’t use it but I’m sure someone might!

Great video. Very helpful. Aside from midi mapping to hot cue buttons, did you have to create a separate "stems crate" in serato ? and then drop the song you want to have stems features for ?

Ill use this tip, eventually, thanks! I wish my S11 worked, been broken since day one, almost a year and now its been in the repair shop for nearly 6 months. Pioneer cannot be trusted unless you have clout, get a rane instead. These grandfathered companies are done for. And yes, I am putting this comment under every single s11 video on youtube because the people need to know

Hey bro, I hear you man. I've seen a lot of people online in the Pioneer forums and Reddit complaining of not being able to get their equipment fixed in a reasonable amount of time. Partially, that is due to part delays around the world. It's affecting a lot of different electronics businesses, but Pioneer are definitely slacking on taking care of their customers who purchased their equipment. Especially something as expensive as a S11. It's not right and they really need to get their act together. I hope you get your mixer back sooner than later bro. Be easy......

Can you route stems (instruments) to different outputs to create spacial audio? Like 3D similar to Atmos? Say vocals to a center speaker, drums and melody to LR, reverb and other harmony or percussion to rear LR and ceiling?

I have the Denon setup. 1850 mixer (2) sc6000 players. When I go to my DUj preferences the choice for remapping stems doesn't appear. But when I plug in my Rev1 into Serato it appears. Can U give some insight on this issue?

Hey, I think you answered your own question chief. The Denon players and 1850 mixer must not be midi mappable in Serato, whereas the Rev 1 is. Maybe you can check in the midi map section of settings when you have the Denon unit plugged in to see if the devices appear in the list. If not, you'd have to use the Rev 1 for that would be my guess. Good luck with it.

Too much especially if you're performing live I have 3.0 running windows with an I5 2.60 processor and using a Pioneer DDJSR2 which allows me to replace pad mode. To me slicer is useless as you can loop a beat and shift it although options may vary depending on the controller or mixer you are using

I've got Serato 3.0 and I don't even have that option in settings to choose Loop Roll, Sampler, etc... Strange...

@@djgonz123 Roland DJ 707M -- which Serato KnowledgeBase said they supported a few weeks ago, so I bought the 707M... now their KnowledgeBase says it is not supported... so I escalated to their support team asking if they will support the 707M... waiting for response.... hopefully they do...

They replied and said: Unfortunately, due to the hardware limitations of your Roland DJ-707M, it is not possible to remap a single specific pad mode to use Serato Stems. It is possible to remap all the pad modes to use Serato Stems but it will disable all the other pad modes. You have a few options here: MIDI map stems to your pads and lose all other pad modes. MIDI map Serato Stems to other buttons on your controller. MIDI map a secondary MIDI controller to use Stems.

@@TheLo31 Oh my bad, I replied from the comments section in my Dashboard and didn't know which video that comment was from. Do you have the mixer plugged into powered speakers? If so have you confirmed the speakers work? Are you hooking it up via XLR cables or the RCA out? If so have you tried swapping the cables? The best thing when troubleshooting anything is to eliminate culprits one by one via "process of elimination". Confirm its not Serato by trying it with analog vinyl, then try connecting to different speakers/output source, different cables and on and on until you isolate the problem. Good luck.

You may be listening to the audio of the control signal from the Serato vinyl/cd’s. On the top of your mixer there are input dials. Choose the usb your computer is plugged into. Not the phono/line in.
