Күн бұрын

In this episode we disassemble our 3.0L SDV6 Gen2 Ford Powerstroke used replacement engine of our Land Rover Discovery 4 HSE. We bought this engine for 7800 Euro from a engine dealer in Germany to replace our hole-in-the-block failed engine. We show in detail why you should not simply install a used engine without prior rebuilding and detailed inspection.
We are not liable for any harm you do to your car, your engine, your surroundings or yourself. Use the information given in this video at your own risk.
Thanks for watching,
Vera & Christian

So when you discover how to make SDV6 Gen 2 engines indestructible, then you can morph the channel into Robin's forging channel. That diagnosis was very well done Christian.

As a dedicated Land Rover enthusiast , I must say I'm most impressed with the repair skills demonstrated on this channel . The most impressive of which , it has to be said , are Vera's sewing skills . Christian's DIY line boring doesn't even come close . LOL I would be most interested to see , on a weekly basis , how well Vera's repair is holding up too. Very, very impressive, guys. Fattrucker

Hi Christian and Vera, great videos. Your enthusiasm and expertise has always been inspiring to me. I had gear selection problems with my 2007 Disco 3 auto after filter and oil change. Clunking into gear on stopping and flearing between gear changes. Took it to a LR in Johannesburg but after 3 days of “we will redo gearbox adaptation” I collected it. I watched a few guys doing repairs on ZF6HP26 boxes and decided to give it a go. You guys motivated me to try. I have successfully overhauled the Mechatronics component and have a gearbox that is now 110% smooth. Thank you for inspiring me Juan South Africa

I noticed Christian said that you can’t just throw new bearings (and piston rings) into and engine and put it back together and drive it , but after all the inspection measurement and analysis it looks like that is (more or less) exactly all that needs to happen here…. great result !

OK where do I start? Obviously the work Robin did was absolutely amazing he is an extremely talented guy. He must get all his talent from Dave, ops sorry Vera. As for today's LR Time video, this for me was genuinely the best video I think I have watched of yours and I love them all. It just felt like I was back in my aeronautical jet engine classes again. So enjoyable. On a personal note, it's interesting that there have been cases in the media or on KZfaq where the presenters have been spotted to display certain conditions where symptoms have been diagnosed by viewers. On this Christian, I couldn't help but notice every time you said the name Dave, it caused your upper lip to curl and your face to grimace 😬mabe you could see a doctor or even a therapist to look into this condition for you before it becomes irreversible 😂 Finally, as for the jeans repair, I would say from the extreme close up that the chassis looked in fine condition and no issues with the bottom end on this one 👍great work guys.

As an old time, drive it everywhere Land Rover enthusiast who has been daily driving old Land Rovers since the 1980's I am utterly mystified by the absurd devotion to the brand name. The old Rover company built true utility vehicles for working people during their heyday. These vehicles had their flaws, but they were simple, user serviceable, and could usually be patched back together and driven home under the most brutal conditions. These vehicles were crude, rough, and "unsafe", but they were HONEST...... They were also very simple to modify / tailor for specific applications and greatly improved offroad performance. They used many of the same parts for multiple generations, with incredible parts interchangeability over many decades....... Truly sustainable, built to be rebuildable. These newer generation "Land Rover" vehicles are none of this... Sure, they are VASTLY more cushy and comfortable, "safer" and faster on road. But they cost so much more, not just monetarily, but environmentally, and at a human cost, too. There are soooo many complex issues with these vehicles, and the human energy I see wasted on recurring problems like this just makes me sick. The last "real" Land Rovers were the original "Defender" models made in 2015, and even the late examples of those were poorly built and infested with many poor quality components and what amounts to silly cake decorating..... I apologize for my rant, and I think this KZfaq channel is excellent, but I am really frustrated at what happened to the Land Rover. It's tragic.

I think I understand how he got the horizontal rod into place with the hole in the middle that's too big to go through either side. I think. Also, great to see things being smithed that are tools and decorations and not weapons like the Americans and the Brits like to make.
