@@arilu89x the family didn't really care anymore about their status once their son died. They put all of their hopes and dreams on him but he was killed. When he died the family stopped caring about the day to day operation. It's one of the reasons the concubine was able to seize control over the family assets. It made it easier for her to try to kill Erniang too. You're right Shiyi knows how to take care of business. She also knows how to deal with a stubborn Erniang. All the crap that Erniang has pulled she was very lucky that Shiyi still cared about her. She even taught Erniang's maid how to handle her. My girl was a bad a$$ especially when she's fighting for her family. Remember when she told Lingyi that she doesn't know how to use other people's power to throw her weight around?
