I used Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream on half my face for 12 months to see if it made a difference for me.
I am age 59 and have dry sensitive skin.

Hi Lisa! The idea of splitting the images to show a "Used the cream" vs. a "didn't use" is genius ~ it appears to me the side you used the cream on looks a bit tighter and smoother, plus the discolorations and dark spots seem to be nearly gone. Hate to say that, as I am very skeptical of product claims, but here you've got the photographic proof that you did get some visible improvement. Your channel is so unique, I just love your methodical approach and the way you analyze and compare products, thanks once again for all your hard work on our behalf!

So interesting to hear you have a phD, makes sense with how informative and well structured your videos are! I think your skin in general looks amazing.. you basically just have expression lines because you have a really expressive face, and your left side seems the most expressive. Your right side does look brighter with less red but I think it might be more your lighting seems to be a bit brighter coming from your right? I may be biased but I don't believe much in topical anti-aging things... I think it's mostly just lifestyle and genetics. Thanks as always for the info!!

I do think that probably how we treat our bodies in general has a lot more to do with how our skin looks than what we put on it. Probably I should take some more photos outside in more even light before starting to use the product on both sides of my face, to see if I can get the lighting to be more even. The AB side wins and your overall full face after AB looks way better! Whilst your smile lines may have deepened a bit (normally due to one more year of ageing) but your complexion is visibly brighter, healthier, and more youthful.

Totally agree but I have used this and think it's fine but for dramatic results I found Barbara Sturm, just the normal moisturizer amazing and Joan Collins surprisingly really good, especially eye cream. I'm a retired beauty therapist

Hi Lisa, I hate to say it but I think the only way you can judge a test like this is to do a year of trying the cream on the opposite side of your face for a year. A lot of factors can effect it for instance the side of my face that faces the window driving is more wrinkled and a different look than the other side of my face and as you mentioned how you sleep. Another thing I think that makes it hard to tell is the lighting in your videos is brighter on one side than the other. Just found you and have to say love how throughly you review your products.

i do think that i need to take some photos outdoors where there is more even lighting before i change anything about how i am using the cream and so will do that shortly. One thing that Professor Bader said was that the effects of having used the cream may continue even if you discontinue use, and it therefore could be the case that the differences between the two sides of my face wouldn't be very pronounced even if I switched sides. (Of course, if you can just use the cream for a while and then stop, and maintain the benefits, that would be fantastic from a cost efficacy point of view, hmmm.). So I am more thinking that my next step will be to use the cream on both sides of my face and see if we can get the left-hand side to 'catch up.' I totally agree that there may be a variety of pre-existing reasons that one side of my face may have looked different before i started the experiment, but the good thing about having been on KZfaq for the past 16 months is that there is abundant footage of me before i used the cream that can be used as a comparison. So i invite those who are interested in this to take a look at the earlier videos of me to see if the apparent differences that people are seeing now were also present then. Wow Lisa this is amazing! I see a huge difference on the right side of your face. Thank u for putting so much effort and time into this experiment ; I don’t know of anyone else that would do this for a whole year ! I’m turning 35 this year and am looking for clean anti aging options and got a sample from Sephora of it today and used it and could see a big difference in the moisture of my skin ( my skin is very dry ) I think I will have to purchase the full size especially after seeing your video! The problem with La Mer for me is that I have not found any products from them that do not list "fragrance" on the ingredient list, and that it has been my experience that I have never used a product listing "fragrance" (even if they claim that it is a "safe synthetic") that has not irritated my skin. If they do ever come out with an unscented product, I would be really interested in trying it! Thanks much for your comment and suggestion. ❤

Hi Lisa, I am new to your channel and I wanted to let you know that I find it really refreshing how intelligent you are and committed to research and analysis. I really trust your reviews. My own experience is that I used AB for 2 years and then when I was approaching retirement last Fall, I stopped, worrying that I could no longer spend that much money on skincare. However, in the year that I didn't use it, and was experimenting with other moisturizers, I felt my skin health really decline. I seemed to get more spots and bumps, less clear and refreshed looking. I started it up again and I am frankly still looking for replacements because I just have too much anxiety spending this much. On the other hand, I get really frustrated trying others and not finding any change in my skin and then feeling like I actually wasted money. I do think your skin looks better with AB and it really is similar to my experience.

I remember the marketing strategy that AB used to promote the creams. And yes i did ditch everything apart from the clenser, because i couldn't afford to use AB cream alongside with 10 other elemis products. And yes it was the best decision. I am slightly annoyed how AB has soo many more products on the line now, because its gone against their original ethos and i have literally fallen into thier marketing trap. I own and use nealry all AB skincare now. Fortunately the AB line is amazing and have no regrets

I'm happy to hear those other AB products are working for you because i did pick up a few other things. I bought the Gel Cream Cleanser and the Body Cream during the Sephora sale, and I got the lip balm at a Blue Mercury store. I also am interested in their cleansing balm - I tried the Elemis Naked one but ended up bringing it back to Sephora (and i hardly ever return things) because it said in big letters that it was supposed to be good for sensitive eyes but did irritate my eyes. What else would you recommend? ❤

@@lisapetrison-beautyreviews hey, it's a shame that the elemis cleanser didnt work because that's my fav cleanser ever. I haven't used the naked one because I prefer the fragranced ones and my eyes don't get irritated even though I know it's not recommended. I do have the AB cleansing balm, but I don't think it's as effective as the elemis one for taking make up off. So I was disappointed with it. However I do use it on non make up days and I don't have issues with it around my eyes. I don't think AB cleansers are very good at taking makeup off, therefore I haven't ever re purchased those. They are nice and comfortable for drier skin type. In order to make use of it. I used the balm as a balmy face mask. it is a lot thickier and richer than the elemis one so it's much more comfortable for drier and mature skins. I would definitely recommend the following from the AB line: Retinol cream Ultimate soothing cream The serum Essence Eye cream. Face oil. I want to try the eye patches, and the new facial mist. It Would be great if you could review the mist! Xx

Hi Lisa! Love your approach. This is exactly the kind of scientific beauty content I would love to see more of on KZfaq. I would appreciate it if you could share some footage and pictures of your face with head on lighting. Currently, the lighting is coming from the side of the face where the AB cream is applied in both your footage and comparison pictures which causes shadowing on the other side. This may explain a lot of the differences described such as the healthiness and puffiness. Could it also be possible that the additional massage of the face from applying the cream is helping to reduce puffiness?

I don't think that I really massaged the AB cream into my face - I just kind of smeared it on. Insofar as i do any massage like that, it is much more of my whole face, as I am putting on the rest of my skincare. That is a good question though. I will try to take some more photos in full natural light outdoors and share them soon, before I start using the AB product on the other side of my face. No doubt the right side looks firmer and better skin texture! I’ve been using Clarins double serum and day cream for many years - definitely made a difference - my dermatologist even noticed. It’s pricey, but half the price of AB. Will try to locate samples to at least try. Thanks for being so thorough!

You know, about 25 years ago, I used a serum from Clarins and did think that my skin benefited from it. I have thought about buying something from Clarins now, but it seems that everything that they make has fragrance in it (even their eye products!). I wouldn't be surprised if they make good products other than the use of the fragrance based on my previous experience with them though. Please report back on your experiences! ❤

Hi Lisa! new subscriber here. Thank you for the very informative video!. I am looking to buy this for my mom and definitely see the improvement on your face!. But the comparison of photos between sides is a bit tricky because it had been different to begin with . Your left side already has 11 line and deep line near Nasolabial fold but right side did not. I am just thinking that your right side already wins even before using cream. It would be better if you compare between AB side full face 12 months ago vs. AB side full face now.

I definitely think that all of those changing factors could make a big difference (even on a day-to-day basis), but I'm not sure why they would affect one side of my face and not the other. There are some things that would affect one side of my face (such as getting more sunlight through the car window or sleeping more on one side), but I cannot think of anything new that I have done over the past year that might have led to that. And other people can look for themselves, but when I look back at the early videos on this channel, I am not really seeing the sorts of differences between the two sides of my face that I am seeing now. It's still hard for me to believe that something like this would make a difference though. I more was anticipating ending up making a video where no one could see any change and then having that be that! ❤

@@janedelaney4327 Each night, I put some of the AB cream on the right-hand side of my face and then let it sink in for a minute or two. Then I used exactly the same other skincare products on both halves of my face. I am quite liberal in using skincare in general and so feel that both sides were getting plenty of moisturizing and hydration. The other skincare products that I have used most frequently are in this video about my absolute favorite skincare: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y8yDf82SvKrRemQ.html I also used a lot of Typology products: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p5xieZum3L7Dl2Q.html And i tried out a variety of other products as well. But always putting them equally on both sides of my face. ❤

Great point about wanting to be healthier. I would suggest you see Michael Lustgarten's channel to find out all the ways you can change your lifestyle and diet to turn back the clock. You do look a little younger on the Bader side. You should try the Bioeffect serum!

That's interesting, I was unaware of this connection and the only thing that I could find offhand on it from a Google search was the following article. forbetterscience.com/2016/03/15/macchiarinis-german-ex-friends-jungebluth-and-bader/ I have no idea if this website should be considered to be trustworthy, but even it does not seem to doubt Bader's supposed claim that his relationship with Macchiarini ended before the controversial activities began. The article does go on to criticize Bader's claims about having created a burn cream, but that has nothing to do with Macchiarini. In reading this, though, I can see why Bader resisted the idea of creating an anti-aging cream for so long. That certainly would be something with the potential of making him even more into the target of the kinds of attacks made in this article, I would think. It's a tough world out there! I wanted to report back on the Augustinus Bader body cream. I am very impressed. Obviously, it’s too soon to tell whether it’s going to help my cellulite, but so far I absolutely love it. It’s the only product I’ve found so far that actually does anything for the dry skin on my legs and feet. And I haven’t had any bad reaction whatsoever.

@@lisapetrison-beautyreviews do you have the eye cream, or have you tried it? I’m thinking about trying it because my eyelids are constantly itchy and scaly, and nothing so far seems to help. Since I like the AB body cream so well, I thought the eye cream might be worth a shot to get next time there is a sale.

@@jjjjk1241 I got a sample of the eye cream and it has felt fine on my eyes. I feel like the regular Rich Cream also has been okay on my eyes and so have been using that in my eye area, since the eye cream is much more expensive. But I wonder if the amount of the Oligopeptide 177 in the eye cream might be higher and therefore if the eye cream might be more effective. It's hard to know just from using the sample though. If you do buy it, please report back on how you do with it! ❤

I’ve been trying to just be more careful around my eye area, so I don’t have irritation in the first place, but inevitably something bothers my eyelids! grrr so maybe it would be worth it to have some sort of eye cream or treatment that I can always count on to prevent such occurrences.

Yes, I have heard that about how La Mer was formulated! i wish that i could try that but as far as I have been able to find, every single product of theirs includes unspecified fragrance. I really feel that Estee Lauder must have a policy in place that they do not want any product from any of their brands to qualify as "clean," and that managers from the various companies must be reprimanded if anything that does not have really problematic ingredients in it manages to slip out the door. I heard the other day that they have had something like 6 consecutive quarters of declining sales though. Maybe it's time for them to enter the 21st Century.

Lisa, if you’re interested in trying a vitamin C serum, my dermatologist recommended the Sephora brand vitamin C plus E. Good time to try it at 30% off! The study is absolutely amazing. Now, on the mirror image pictures you created, were they the same picture and you created the two images from the same photo? Because it looks like you’re wearing a different shirt in them. If they were taken on a different day or at a different time, would that contribute to your face looking different? I had mentioned before that I thought your right side looked brighter and with less pigmentation. Looking at those two mirror image photos I agree with what you said about the side without the cream, looking puffier. However, the side with the cream looks like the marionette lines are deeper and also that you have a shadow or some redness below your eyes. Thank you for doing this. I had heard about these products, I think maybe from Lisa J, and I’ve been meaning to try them and forgot the name of the brand.

The mirror image photos were both created from exactly the same photo that is used in the thumbnail. It's funny that both my shirt and my headband look different in them, isn't it? I do think the marionette lines look especially problematic on my right-hand side. Maybe that is because that is the side that I usually sleep on, or maybe the puffiness makes them less noticeable? I still think I look better on the side that I used the cream on, even if some of the wrinkles are a bit worse. Thanks for the vitamin C suggestion! ❤

I still think the side where you used the cream looks better overall. This was absolutely fascinating! I definitely want to try the cellulite cream; might wait on the face products until I run out of what I’m currently using. Also, I meant to say I really enjoyed and appreciated hearing your story! I too discovered makeup and skincare just about a year and a half ago in my late 50s. My former makeup routine was to wear mascara, a teeny bit of eyeliner, translucent powder, and a pale pink blush. I didn’t even know there were such things as bronze and highlighter 😂It’s been an interesting journey , learning how to use all this dtuff!

However, in the mirror-image photos that are posted at 41:30, the image on the right side of the screen is the AB one. Probably that was not the best choice and i should have switched them so that conversation about the topic would be less confusing to people. ❤

As i was discussing with another commenter, i do think that some of the wrinkles look more pronounced on the AB side and am wondering if that is due to there being less puffiness on that side. The idea that this is less of a 'wrinkle cream' and more of a 'healthy skin cream' is having some resonance for me, and that was a real surprise. Thanks much for the compliment! ❤

Hi, Lisa. This is off-topic, but I wanted to post this where you would be sure to see it. I wanted to see if anyone can commiserate or provide any information. I recently started using the brown Tower 28 mascara (about 3 weeks ago), and it has been an exercise in frustration from day 1! I know you said you had trouble with it. I thought it might be my own fault because I find the wand extremely hard to use, and maybe I'm getting it too close to my waterline. Anyway, I wondered if anyone else has had trouble with the brown formula or if I need to keep giving it a chance--maybe there's just a learning curve in placing it on the lashes properly. I can't seem to find out its shelf life. It's on the box, but it's too tiny to read even by taking a picture and enlarging it on my phone. I emailed the company. If it's not past its shelf life after opening, I might request a refund. If its shelf life is less than 3 weeks and it's simply expired, I'm definitely throwing it away and will not repurchase! I'm tired of hurting eyes! I like your idea of getting mini mascaras and using them for only a month. However, I recently had my color analysis done, and black mascara is not my color, and I'm expecting it to be hard to find blue or brown mascara in minis. Thanks for listening to my tales of woe!!

I did okay with the Tower 28 black mascara at first, but after maybe 4-5 months, I did get an eye infection from it. So that was what made me conclude that only using mascaras for a few months would be a good idea. I do have a brown Tower 28 that I haven't used, and it says the usage life is 6 months. Other brown mascaras that i have been thinking about trying are from Saie, Well People, Ere Perez, Thrive, Honest (lash tint), Pacifica (Stellar Gaze), Burt's Bees (Nourishing Mascara), Tarte Maneater, and YSL Lash Clash. And there is the expensive Westman Atelier one. I do think that black mascara looks fake on me and makes it clear that I am wearing makeup. A brown mascara works much better, I think. But I agree that it is frustrating that the minis only come in black! ❤

@@lisapetrison-beautyreviews thank you; that helps! I might try using it for one more week, and if it keeps bothering me, I’ll see if they’ll give me a refund. I’ll work on on keeping it way far away from my waterline, and if that doesn’t help I might need to conclude that the formula doesn’t agree with me. I think I need to stick with straight mascara wands; I can’t get the hang of this curvy one!

@@lisapetrison-beautyreviews OK, they said this mascara is good for 12 months. I went ahead and requested a refund. I shouldn’t have to work this hard to not have burning fire eyes when I put a mascara on. I have put other mascaras near the base of the lashes just like i’m doing with this one, and I didn’t feel like I poured battery acid in my eyes!😮

@@jjjjk1241 Yes, I actually was going to say to you that if a mascara is irritating your eyes that I don't think it's a good idea to keep using it to try to make it work. Your eyes are too important to do anything that might be risky to them at all, in my opinion! ❤

@@lisapetrison-beautyreviews thank you, Lisa! Yeah, even if it is operator error, it shouldn't be causing this much discomfort! Fortunately, Tower 28 said they will accept the return and give me a refund this one time, even though their normal return window is 30 days (I bought it back in November). FYI, Tower 28 said "all" of their products have a 12-month shelf life. Now it's on to my Chanel Le Volume Mascara in Blue Night! Thanks for the suggestions for other brown mascaras. The YSL one comes highly recommended, I hear.

I dont see any difference at all...very honestly. I checked a video one year before and its exactly the same, you have a few differences from one side to another, but you always had them. I wouldn´t spend that money on this cream, but each one with their own. But it was a very interesting experiment!
