I started using gpt3 and it wasn't half bad, my thinking was you've got to adjust to stay ahead! Wasn't really worried about my career as a developer, just thinking I've optimised my workflow. Now gpt4 has been released I'm seriously worried as a developer! Thinking of moving to a new skillset like cyber security or networking etc

Been using ChatGPT for about a week now as a development tool. I not afraid of it taking my job, at least for now because the code it generates has not been great. I think I was able to copy paste code once without massaging the data. I asked it to build a simple word search react component. It did a pretty good job but the code didn’t work. So it’s definitely a tool that needs a developer to actually make it work.

I think you're right, I will start to feel fear when chat GPT can resolve the next sentence: Create a process to stored the incomes and loss of the portfolios from the last month, this a real example, I mean, with less bla bla bla, I could write the code at the same velocity that you asked, but the real problems still there waiting for the thoughts of a human, AI or a monkey. I think there's a lot of work and Chat GPT, Siri, Alexa and the other AI are a great tools.

Would the time taken to proof-read the generated code be less than the time to produce the code without ChatGPT?
