I have scoured the internet for a video and this one was the one I loved the most. I have watched this video probably 5-6 times in the last two weeks. I just started my painting on a panel and I love it so much. Thank you for making this video !!!!!!

I enjoyed this video very much. You did a beautiful job with the white wash paint over the brick. Really makes the brick look more authentic. I may give this a try. I’m looking at doing a entry wall. This would be outstanding! Thanks for sharing.

Cool project. One of the challenges with using drywall spackle is it doesn't flex as the panels expand and contract. For future reference, there is a latex caulk with fine sand in it, used for "grouting" lines between floor tile planks. At Lowe's it's found in the flooring section by the grout mix, and comes in different colors. Because it is basically a latex caulk, it will flex as the panels expand and contract.

Thank you for the video. Looked at others and they just seemed to tedious for the final effect. I kept thinking, couldn’t you just get that effect with some chalk paint? Finally, I found yours and I love the different example you’ve shown.

looks good but terribly slow technique , probably averaging 30 seconds per brick ...... I would paint all the grout joints , let them dry , then paint all the bricks with a roller and wipe with a large , flat , maybe dampened sponge , get the whole thing done faster

How do you cut out for your outlets?
@katrinawagner68425 жыл бұрын
You would have to measure REALY well and then use a reciprocating saw.
@shanarablue3394 жыл бұрын
Instead of having a straight edge for a seam , cut the 1/2 brick out the sheet , so it ends up looking like a jigsaw piece, then the seam should disappear , it's a little more work but worth it, love the wash look, but then the brick is really neat anyway .
@deidre-restlessmind43054 жыл бұрын
I tried that, but my cutting wasn't precise enough, and I made a big mess. I had to scrap that panel.
@shanarablue3394 жыл бұрын
Deidre - Restless Mind such a shame, it doesn't have to be a perfect cut , you can cover the join with tile fix, all purpose filler ex and paint . Love the outcome though , the panel I've seen so far in UK are pretty expensive unfortunately, or I'd have this just about everywhere with ship lap .

Great work! Any tips on how to do corners? For example, putting faux brick on all sides of a square column.

If you have the equipment, and measure well, you can actually miter the corners.

How do you handle the edges on the exposed corners of the wall?
@deidre-restlessmind43054 жыл бұрын
Some I use a mitered edge and make it look like the brick is the true depth. Others, I just sanded the end well on the 90 degree wall and painted.

Can you make a floor with the same material ?
@katrinawagner68425 жыл бұрын
Probably but it's made for walls so it probably wouldn't handle the wear and tear of being walked on all the time.
@MsAllison5 жыл бұрын
I would think you could use it for floors BUT would need to put a durable sealer on it. I've seen people do plywood, stained and sealed and made a beautiful floor so I don't see that this would be that different. Just LOTS of floor sealer. Good luck!

How would a horizontal seam within the mortar compare as it relates to the appearance? Also, did you have to move the outlet in the wall forward in order to put the face plate back on?

Love this. Do you have a link to the brick panels? I find it's really hard to do a search for proper raised brick panels. So many companies try to pass off photographic prints for proper texture.
@ddayhawk183 жыл бұрын
Home Depot and Lowe’s sell them. Just look at the dimensions and you can tell how thick the pieces are
@missgorlll4 жыл бұрын
So after spackling the seam is it just painted white? Or did you spackle the whole board and then paint?

How does it work on an outside corner? Would I need to use trim over it? I'm curious of it would look ok or not.
@deidre-restlessmind43054 жыл бұрын
On the most noticeable outside corner, I mitered a small section to wrap around the corner so it truly looked authentic with the appropriate brick depth. On a couple of others, i just lined up the edge carefully, and painted the edge the wall color on the 90% wall. No one really notices.

Awesome tutorial. Exactly what I’ve been looking for for my kitchen backsplash. I need 4 panels, I’ve only got one painted so far. Although a slow process, it’s the best way to achieve the look I want. So thanks for sharing! Ps. What did you use to seal it? I definitely want a few coats of some sealant, to protect from splatter from my range and my kitchen sink.
@deidre-restlessmind43054 жыл бұрын
I used a satin finish that wipes up pretty well. I didn't seal it.

Not a problem. If you over caulk or make a mess, just use damp paper towels or rags to clean off the mess you make. Make sure to use only latex caulking. Silicone is NOT to be used for this (is just rubber).
