The Philippines was ruled by the Viceroy of Nueva España (Mexico) rather than the Spanish, as Mexico is much closer than Spain. The Manila Galleon trade continued uninterrupted for 300 years, so it's somewhat fitting to think of us as the Mexicans of Asia. Nowadays, we have English first names and Latin last names. The first Filipino immigrants in the US settled in Louisiana in 1763 and were known as 'Manilamen.' They later established a small fishing village called Saint Malo.

Nah dude even from the start I can still sense a bit of it, It wouldn’t go away especially if you grew up with tagalog speaking family. It will show up once in a while unintentionally no matter how americanised the tongue is 😝 I can pick it up bec when Filipino speaks English the tonality and dynamics gives it away- it’s shows up bec that’s exactly how one speaks tagalog, they just changed the words to english 😂
