The option select is nothing new to fighting games to be sure, but they always come in a million different varieties. In this video we will go through an option select specific to Guilty Gear Strive using counterhits! Always get the best option and outcome with this setup!

@@rooflemonger i Think i Found sonethink interresring, on counterhit the second Hit Kind of has improve frames, so for example if ur Jump in counterhit u can cofirm the counterhit with a Button and still habe the extra frames from the counterhit its Strange

Great video. That section of the video of hit confirming Giovanna’s super is also true with her double quarter circle super. If you do the the first part of the motion as a half circle motion she’ll jump, but the game will still see the input. So when you enter the second motion it work making it easier to pull off. These videos have helped a lot. Keep up the great work!

Ooh! Now I gotta experiment with what heavy counter hits have good option selects for my character. I thought about Potemkin's 2S counter hit as I was watching this, till I remembered it doesn't have as long of a freeze frame as an HS counter, so it might be difficult to do the OS off of that.

A good use for this for Ky is his 2D/sweep. On counterhit you want to hit 214K/flip kick for some meterless conversion and on regular hit you can go for the 214S/DE for shock state and Oki oppurtunity. Thank you for the info!

This your first day or something? XRD's tutorial explained it with a useful easy "Press kick while doing throw and if it doesnt throw you will get kick" OS. SG had a defensive one to get backdashes IIRC. Neat when its in the actual game t utorials.

I found a really good one for may! if you use Mr dolphin (horizontal) cancel it into 4(hold)6S and then if you get the counter use Mr Dolphin (horizontal)

Thank you very much for explaining what Option Select is. If I got that right it is that the game chooses one action of your inputs which contained multiple possible actions. I still have no clue how it works in For Honor and what the community complains about but atleast in Guilty Gear Strive i now have an idea what i can experiment.

Option selecting in for honor allows u to parry with a zone input while also countering a feint to guard break because if they feint it ur zone comes out countering guardbreak.

@@reddragoner1932 at least zone OS is punishable unlike guardbreak option select which can parry, and go for the guardbreak, and can be used OOS without repercussion. The only way to do it is to use macros.

i don't know if someone mentioned it already but you can also just plink the S and HS (or any other button) for the same result, without doing the motion input. If it's the same motion input ofc. this game is really beginner friendly XD

This is super helpful. It looks like in some situations with Giovanna inputs were not necessarily correct, but it still honored the super. Is that because you have the extra time from the counter, so as long as your 632146 is satisfied, you could still hit 4K, HS and it connects the HS with the previous sequence even though the 4K was timed ?

For the faust drill into bomb bag you can run under the bag and air throw him depending on the character.

so I guess for Nago the best OS would be standing HS and backwards Fukyo/QCB HS ? So on block it's a disengage and on hit I go in with an attack?

@@rooflemonger nah, hitting a blocking opponent with HS basically gives enough blood for Fukyo. Slightly too little, but that's fine. And the lunging blood attack is worth the cost. I guess I have to find it out myself then :)

i really like you're helpful tutorials for this game. but there's one thing im struggling with and that is special move inputs. i am more used to simpler inputs like Mortal Kombat where there is just down left and square or just back forward and triangle. this game has different types of inputs im not used to and its proving to be difficult for me to learn. could you just give me some tips on how to get better at this? i use a controller and i also dont know if it's better to use the Dpad or the Stick. i hope you reply thank you

There is no trick to it other than throw? Everyones throw is 2 frame startup and its the fastest attack in the game.

id have to explore it. I made the kara cancel vid for potemkin cause it revolutionizes his gameplan. For sol all I know is he can DP a smidge bit further and that in and of itself isnt worth a full vid

For Gio, I don't understand why you want to do the Super on Counter Hit only ? The Super still comboes on H normal hit

Because it means that if the opponent blocks, you get 214K which is safe on block instead of her super which is very unsafe on block.

That's why there's a delay before -> HS. On normal hit the game takes the first cancel option because it's the only valid input during the cancel window (5H xx 214K). On counter hit the hitstop expands the cancel window and takes the last observed cancel option (5H xx 632146H).

just go in with the idea, and then go from there. Only one I knew ahead of time before making this vid was the faust one, and then I just thought about it for a few minutes and then came up with the axl and giovanna ones
