This is exactly why we need a coach with credibility that can earn these players’ respect and trust. Most of our players play for the top coaches/teams in Europe, and then they go to the USMNT and are expected to play for a coach from a lower level.

Sergino Dest's behavior was ridiculous, but also, I feel Gregg is the bigger issue. Is this self sabotage? The USMNT has a solid team to work with, but keeping Gregg is the perfect way to make that irrelevant. Edit: Guys, we are talking about Trinidad here. Gregg has a team of players that are all over Europe. They shouldn't be struggling even with 10 men even if they are "mid". It's not just a potential issue of Dest's club questioning the value of him playing in these types of international games. It's also them questioning whether they need to worry about him doing something similar while playing for them. The guy can't go back to PSV and pretend like this didn't happen. His coaches and teammates are going to want to understand why it occurred and be confident it won't happen in their environment as well. They probably already know he has a certain level of volatility and emotional dysregulation, but this was well beyond what we've seen from him before, and probably indicative of the problems he had at Barcelona and Milan where he lost the trust of teammates and coaches. Honestly, I feel bad for the guy. Reactions like that almost always have something else involved. Some unresolved stress or situation in one's personal life as an example. The guy really needs some psychological help to get a handle on whatever his unresolved issues are and/or to get to the root of what's causing him to be so emotionally immature.

Starts with the leadership: Coach, staff and players. Don't call him up for the rest of 2024. Berhalter really needs the screws tightened down on him, coaching staff needs to fire up the team, players need to step up a helluva lot more to inspire players and keep them in line.

Dest needs to speak with a mentor/therapist. That attitude is not a good sign. He can harm the progress of the team.

Having a go at 3G just feels repetitive at this point. But what was he thinking after the red card? He looked like a deer in headlights whenever the camera panned to him. Clearly had no idea what to do. The two striker formation was prolly the right call given who was available. But who continues to play two strikers when a man down? Even a man down, we could have won that game or gotten a draw. It atleast would have lessened the embarrassment. Not a good way to end the year. Hopefully it doesn't affect team morale going forward.

Two games that should been fun for both the players and the fans. Game 1, GB blows it by leaving Paredes and Tillman in for 66 min. Game 2, Dest shows just how selfish he is, and GB shows he is incapable of making adjustments and providing leadership when the game gets difficult. Crocker emphasized GB’s cognitive ability as a reason for rehiring him, but SSDD with GB and it will not change as long as he is here.
