Warship Guide - USS Nevada BB 36
USS Nevada ushered in the 2nd generation of US battleship design, or the standard type battleship, incorporating revolutionary new features that became standard on most of the US battleships that followed her. Nevada was the only battleship to get underway during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and her actions were a bright spot in an otherwise dismal morning for the United States Navy. After recovering from her damage, her guns blasted away enemy coastal defenses in France before she moved on to the Pacific. Fire from her guns was deadly accurate and she was very dependable in the fire support role. She earned 7 battle stars for her efforts in both Oceans during the 2nd World War.

This has to be the most amazingly articulate, fluent, well organized commentary including reams of technical information on record. It is astounding how much of this information is coherently conveyed without interruption for so long. My only complaint is that the narrator characterized Japan's Pearl Harbor attack as an "unprovoked surprise attack." Neither is true. Other than that flaw, this presentation is an absolute masterpiece.

We didn't attack the Japanese first so yes, it was unprovoked. and it was absolutely a surprise. Everyone at Pearl Harbor was caught flatfooted.

BB36 is her hull number as well as Nevada is the 36th State.

I always feel sad when I hear "stricken from the registry". In this case at least she died at sea and wasn't broken up.

BB36 A dereadknought class battleship. But her sister BB35 uss Texas has just been rebuilt. As the ONLY drednought class battleship IN THE WORLD will soon leave the repair yards. With 5 turrents, Yes 5. two up front one in the middle and two at the back. A recilic of the first battleships ever made.

Texas was not the same class as Nevada. Texas's sister ship was New York (BB-34).

Texas was sistership to uss New York not to Nevada.
