Oligarchy and liberalism destroyed the USSR, Brezhnev was the beginning of the end, Gorbachev was the last failure for the USSR.

Gorbachev didn’t do anything wrong. He was trying to reform the Soviet Union, and make it better for people. It was Yeltsin who dissolved it.

Perhaps getting ready for the 1990's? It's possible that octave might have been used for most of the 1990's decade.

It is because they knew the Soviet Union was going to collapse. Which is why they had to play the anthem like a final episode variant of a theme song like a funeral dirge to their beloved country.

Are you serious? huh? The USSR's economic "system" slowly eroded over decades because it was a FAILED system. corruption, fear and cronyism. It started with Marx then Lenin the Stalin...and Khrushev was a complete idiot. American capitalisms didn't defeat the USSR, they destroyed themselves. So you miss a totalitarian government, waiting in line for food, routine brown outs, shitty Lada cars, decaying buildings, NO GRASS, the chic architecture was CONCRETE BLOCK. Why is Poland and Hungary thriving? And Russia and Ukraine struggling? There's your answer.

With fall of the berlin wall came the end of the mighty red empire. By 1990, USSR would have lost control of all warsaw pact countries and the Baltic republics. What a sad end for USSR😭😭😭😭😭😭

I wonder what Mikhail Gorbachov was thinking in his mind since East Germany (GDR) Collapsed just two days later on November 9. Similarly Czechoslovakia did the same just 10 days later on November 17.

Soviet military orchestras across the USSR began playing the anthem in this key, b-flat, most likely with directive from the Military Orchestral Service led by Major General Mikhailov. In many videos of 1990 and 1991, military bands can be hear playing the anthem this way. Personally, I think it was just an arrangement change and not a political one. The anthem was originally published in 1943 in e-flat and had been steadily lowered in key throughout the USSR’s existence.
