Have you tried doorkeeper thrull? It seems to hit a lot of the convoke deck, and vanquish the horde in the side for more sweeper density maybe?

Hey Arne, Great content as usual. While I love UW Control I have the feeling it can't be played in the current meta and if you want a deck whose planning to go late game you'd better go for Domain instead. I don't like disruption protocol. I think I would replace them with either a copy of celestus to cycle stuff / ramp you up or make disapear / get lost. And about convoke I have been successful against it with black based deck (Rakdos, Esper, Golgari) as cutdown is insane to slow their early before you slam your own threat (hello Shelly).

I tried this deck. I felt like I was getting incredibly unlucky, too, but maybe the deck is just bad. Lots of mulligans, flooding out, getting color cut. I don’t know.

I think you got unlucky against the Convoke deck and that got to you. One could run even more stuff like Revelry in the SB. But probably 4 Knockout Blow should be good enough already. I still think Standard needs a rotation to be interesting. Explorer is way more fun at the moment. Now that Copter is on Arena, it feels a lot more similar to Pioneer. It just needs more players, by far the slowest queue on Arena.

A pretty weird list. I've been using Elspeth's Smite (2 main, 2 side) and this match up has been pretty easy for me. Also not a fan of Deduce. I've been on 4 Sunfall, 2 Farewell, since Smite, Get Lost (also on 4) and March (running 3) seem to do fine in the early game.

I feel like it's pretty bad in the late game which is when control really shines. It really only cycles itself for 2 mana, and we have no artifact synergy to make the clue worth it. So we are on rate paying 4 mana to draw 2 cards, which is the same rate as Memory Deluge but with none of the benefit of selection or flashback from the graveyard. Quick Study is the better card for control decks. @@DiscardatRandom

@@marcelodecarvalho6030 deduce is what you need early game to not get tempoed out by dimir or esper its a lot better for a deduce to get countered vs a quick study it can also find you a counterspell or removal spell faster than a quick study

This deck needs celestus, I really like it vs convoke, 2 copies, sunfall turn 4 sometimes or life gain, cycling to find lockdowns / sweepers. I also run two sunset revelry as another commenter mentioned - Also just variance happened to you

Celestus is a turn 3 drop and with boros convoke at turn 3 you really are near a lethal attack… Temporary lockdown it’s a better turn 3 drop vs Them Imho

@29:30 I assume youre a tad tilted but disruption protocol saves you 4 life over march. leaving you at 6 hp, Emperor brings you to 8, you live the next turn barring another recruiter. Then you sunfall and pray u dont get pinged out.

Recruiter was uncounterable because of Cavern of Souls. He couldn't use Protocol on it.

I played 5 sweepers plus a bunch of spot removal vs convoke and still barely won the game. The deck is too strong.

How did you arrive at only one copy of Farewell in the 75? Card looks like an amazing answer in a wide format like 3 year standard. Also you lost m1g2 because you were a coward and played the emp instead of one of the deluges. Those deluges ended up rotting in your hand while you whiffed on draws. A look at lockdown or hitting your land drops to get to your 7 mana sunfall was defintely worth taking ten on that turn.

Bro, what's with the constant aggression in your tone? I mean, he's qualified for major events, obviously a pretty decent player, but even if that was not the case, don't see the reason to talk like that repeatedly. But hey, maybe that's just me, don't know what you're seeking with it

@@LucasCastro-oc8tt You wouldn't know aggression if it sat on your face. I am seeking good magic play. Which is what this guy advertises. If you're gonna have a coaching link in your vid descriptions, you can't be uploading you making blatant piloting errors and not addressing them in post. See: Jim Davis immediately calling out his mistakes or Phil Gallagher (ThrabenU) detailing his plays and why they were mistakes immediately after. Or Reid Duke, YellowHat. Basically any GOOD competitive magic player. I do not give two fucks about event qualifications. Any idiot can run hot on a low-interaction low-decision deck and spike an event; see my dumbass friend who spiked a PTQ with tron back in the day while he was high as a kite.
