ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಈ ದಿನ ಮದು ಮಗಳಂತೆ ಅಲಂಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಲದ ಮರದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಸತ್ಯವಾನ್ ಸಾವಿತ್ರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಯಮರಾಜನ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿ ಆಲದ ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಪತಿಯ ಯೋಗಕ್ಷೇಮ ಮತ್ತು ದೀರ್ಘಾಯುಷ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾವಿತ್ರಿಯನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಆಲದ ಮರಕ್ಕೆ ಅರಿಶಿನ ಅಥವಾ ಶ್ರೀಗಂಧದವನ್ನು ಲೇಪಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಕುಂಕುಮವನ್ನು ಸಿಂಪಡಿಸಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮರದ ಕಾಂಡದ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ದಾರವನ್ನು 7 ಬಾರಿಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇನ್ನೂ ಅವಿವಾಹಿತ ಹುಡುಗಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಬಯಸಿದ ವರನನ್ನು ಪತಿಯಾಗಿ ನೀಡೆಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನೆನೆಸಿದ ಕಾಳುಗಳನ್ನು, ಮಾವು, ಹಲಸಿನ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳು, ಬಾಳೆಹಣ್ಣು ಮತ್ತು ನಿಂಬೆಹಣ್ಣಿನ ಪ್ರಸಾದವನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ತಮ್ಮ ಉಪವಾಸವನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ..
Women decorate themselves like brides on this day. Under the banyan tree, Satyawan installs an idol of Savitri and Yamaraja and prays to the banyan tree for the well-being and longevity of her husband and worships Savitri. Women apply turmeric or sandalwood to the banyan tree, sprinkle with saffron and tie a thread 7 times around the trunk of the tree. If the girl is still unmarried, she prays for the desired groom as her husband. They break their fast by consuming prasadam of soaked pulses, mango, jackfruit, banana and lemon.
