Involves packing. I start packing a month in advance. I open my suitcase in a corner of the bedroom or living room. I make a list of things that need to be in the suitcase. Every time I come across an item or clothing that I want to take with me or something that is on the list, I throw it in the suitcase. 3 days before I go on holiday, the entire list must be checked off and in the suitcase. Then I'm start to fold everything neatly. I also put a nice scent in my suitcase that makes me happy and calm. Every time I open that suitcase on holiday I am confronted with that wonderful smell. When I get back I leave certain things in the suitcase so I don't have to pack them again. Such as toiletry bag and some clothing items or toys. Hope this helps

The reason why I start packing a month in advance is because it reduces a lot of stress. And I associate packing with looking forward to the holidays. If your suitcase is ready 3 days before the holiday, you will be super relaxed the two days before the holiday. And while folding you can decide what 'not' goes with you instead of what you still have to take with you. The only thing you should not forget is your passport. And if I leave certain things in the suitcase for the next holiday, the fun of packing starts.

Vacation with kids is hard work! We do everything we can to stick close to home so we can keep our routine of 3 days of daycare a week. That means 3 days off for us as parents, which is lovely. And then we've got lots of energy for the other days with toddler.

Ayyyy what a topic. Balance is the answer. I love that you're getting both, which I think is ideal. AND having both kinds makes you enjoy each of them more!!!

2:56 lmao this moment got me because it is so real and what a life it is to be young and cousins again lol There is so much beauty in traveling with your kids and also SO much reconnection and peace and growth in traveling withOUT them haha my husband and I are going on 7 years married with a almost 5 and 2 year old so traveling alone is not something we are able to do often. Truly almost never. We do enjoy traveling with them because better to parent somewhere different (with a pool and/or beach preferably) but of course you are still parenting. Our babes are very use to travel and I truly have no big complaint and still feel like I’m on vacation with them but that vacation vibes alone with my husband is something special lol I would never choose to never take my babies on vacation but I appreciate and welcome the travel times when it’s just my husband and I. Love you guys!!

SHANNNNNN!!! It's almost like you read my mind. I have been following you from the beginning of time and have been growing with you 🥹 My husband and I just got back from our VERY FIRST VACATION WITHOUT KIDS and without it being work related 🫣😭 We've been together for 8 years and married for almost 4 years and have four kids 🫢🫣 I asked myself, "why did it take us so long to vacation without the kids?" The answer is simple, 1) we run our own martial arts school and we had to make sure we had a team to be able to run it without us being there 2) we wanted to make sure we were being wise with our income, in the mix of buying our home and the unexpected expenses that come with being a home owner 😅 We finally felt that this year had our boxes checked and it was time for that one on one vacation. And boy was it amazing!! I was able to not be mom and just be me ❤️ We agreed on vacationing once a year just him and I and a vacation separate with the kiddos. We are lucky enough to not have to take our younger kids to daycare because we can bring them to work with us, so I understand the attachment that the kids have due to them always being with us. So it was definitely a great time being able to have that time with my husband ❤

I travelled with my 8 month old. I now have excel spreadsheet with checklists on what to pack for myself, the baby and husband. Omg made such a difference. Packed snacks and pouches , that saved us time, while he was eating we got time to dress up and be cute.

Nice, I agree with pretty much every point. Travelling with my 2 kiddos at 2 and 4 was Exhausting BUT I really really enjoyed seeing them Enjoying and having fun. But like your hubby I would love to keep Us time even if just 3 days to just US, No Routines, Tantrums or watching Time!

This hit so hard, just got done taking my niece who's 12 and my 3 year old son to Florida for vacation along with my cousin and her 3 young kids ages 5,7,10. It had it joyous moments, but boy was it stressful. Me and my cousin argued alot I think because of the stress. Definitely think having an adult vacation should be separate than kids vacation, both needed, loved this video

I love vacationing with my now 10 month old daughter BUT we always have aunts, or grandparents or family/friends with us & she’s the only child, so it still provides relief for us and extra attention and love for her. When it hits it HITSSSS ❤

Its a mindset. I'm not saying that “challenges” don't arise. But if you make the decision that vacationing with children is more difficult than it will be more difficult. And the lows WILL be lows. If you make the decision that vacationing with children is the best experience possible. Then it will be the best experience possible, and the “lows” will hit differently. Also, vacationing with children doesn’t have to limit what you experience. Children are resilient and the more you allow them to experience, the more their horizons expand. I love to vacation also and it’s an expectation in our household that you gotta “keep up.” For example, my husband and I are big foodies and we take our little one to really nice restaurants all over the world and she knows how she is to act while in a restaurant setting. (That is our jam) Maybe try to slowly incorporate more “adult” activities in your vacations with your children. If you like hiking, go as a family and create a goal hike all over the world together. Just remember parenting is what YOU make it. Cheers fam. Great topic.

Do you have children? That shit is a lot of work .. why do people think that when they have children they aren’t allowed to want to spend some time away from them just to get a little break !it’s exhausting and a lot of labour !!
