Embarking on the journey to secure a 100% Permanent and Total (P&T) VA disability rating in 2024 is akin to setting sail on a vast ocean of possibilities, challenges, and victories. With the right compass, map, and steadfast determination, the treasure of securing a future that honors your service and sacrifices is within reach. Here's a blueprint, a guiding light for those ready to navigate these waters with the wisdom and insights of someone who's sailed these seas before.
At its core, a 100% P&T rating is a recognition by the VA that your service-connected conditions are such that improvement is unlikely over time. It's a commitment from the nation you've served that your welfare and that of your family are a priority, with benefits that grow alongside the cost of living. This isn't just a monthly check; it's a lifeline and a testament to your valor.
Set Your Intent to File: The journey begins with a single, yet powerful step: filing an intent to file. This initial action doesn't lock you into a claim but opens a one-year window to build your case. Think of it as casting a wide net into the ocean, ensuring that when you do haul in your catch, you're compensated from the very moment you decided to embark on this voyage.
Gather Your Intel: Knowledge is your North Star. Start by reviewing your medical records, both from active duty and the VA. Identify your diagnoses and discern which are most likely to be recognized as service-connected conditions, especially those unlikely to improve over time. This is your map, highlighting the routes that will lead you to success.
Identify and Address Weak Points: Like any seasoned captain, you must anticipate and mitigate potential challenges. Analyze your claim as if you were the VA itself, pinpointing areas of vulnerability. For example, a long gap between diagnosis and claim can be a treacherous shoal. Address these by gathering compelling evidence, such as updated medical opinions or nexus letters, to strengthen your position.
Reinforce Your Claim: Now, you bolster your defenses, readying your ship against any storm. This might involve obtaining detailed nexus letters that link your service to your conditions, especially for those ailments that have worsened over time. Your aim is to make it not just easy but compelling for the VA to see your perspective, to understand the depth of your sacrifice and service.
As you navigate these steps, remember, it's not just about reaching the destination but about understanding the journey. Each action you take, each piece of evidence you gather, is a testament to your resilience, a beacon for others to follow.
In this pursuit, you're not alone. With guides like VA Claims Academy, you have a crew ready to support you, offering strategies, templates, and personalized advice to ensure your claim is as robust as it can be. Together, we're not just aiming for success in the VA disability claims process; we're ensuring that your service and sacrifices are recognized and honored, now and always.
Embarking on this quest with the knowledge and strategies outlined here positions you not just for success but for a transformation. This is more than a claim; it's your legacy, a foundation for the future you've earned through service and sacrifice. With determination, the right knowledge, and a spirit of resilience, the goal of securing a 100% Permanent and Total rating is not just a dream but a destination within reach. Let's set sail together, navigating the seas of bureaucracy with confidence, and secure the future you deserve.

My biggest issue is a lot of us never went to medical. The "Suck it up" culture is very real when I was in the Marines. Now, that I finally had enough and want to start filing claims I am not taken seriously by my "word" and fall into this evidence trap that extends the time. Having to take 6 months to gather evidence is just another exhausting step in the whole process that makes me not want to do it.

Hey Jordan, Thanks for the info. Please clarify your statement where you discussed the three battefields. In the video you mentioned, 1) "Does the condition exist, yes, we have a diagnosis, 2) "Is it service connected, that is most people's battlefied, and 3) "and if those two are good, how bad is it according to the 38 CFR". I'm confused because I derived from the 38 CFR, M21, and my VA rating decision that the VA requires three primary things, 1) In service event, 2) current diagnosis/treatment, and 3) a Nexus to connect #1 and # 2. I just want to ensure that Im tracking you correctly because the "battlefied" statement appears to be similiar to what VA requires, but not exact. Isn't the diagnosis 1/3 of what's needed for the VA to service connect and the other 2/3's is the current diagnisos and Nexus? I am aware that severity is very important for higher ratings; however to service connect, I thought that we only needed an in-service event, current diagnosis/treatment, and a nexus. Please clarify... Thank you again.

Thanks Brother. Im getting help through my local DAV but kinda nervous because based on my research through your videos and other channels like veterans info tap i know this guy should be at 100%. He doesnt really care and tried to gaslight me about watching channels like these. He has this whole i got this covered vibe. But if hes not even where hes supposed to be how is he gonna get me there? I been out since 2003 and servered overseas during wartime. I never worked offbase but launched the loudest planes in the U.S Navy into combat missions. My ears are messed up which causes migraine headaces to go days on end with little sleep. Ive barely been able to hold down a job or my own place since ive been out. My ptsd drives wedges between friends and family that reached out and been there to help me. I have my 2nd appointment with the DAV in a few weeks. The 1st one was just to sign stuff so he could file my letter of intent and get my medical records released. I never really got anything documented during service because going to sick call wasnt to highly encouraged. Im interested in everything you have to offer. Idk the details and if theres options to compensate you after the disability kicks in. Feb 20th is when my letter of intent got filed. GodWillingly when it goes thru i will receive back pay from that date.

when you get a chance can you make a video of the VA's meaning of inservice event, and clarify such definition, does it mean on duty, during working hours or from the time that you joined all the way till the date you separated from service or retired.
@Kenbot2
@Kenbot2 4 ай бұрын
it doesn’t have to be during duty hours. In service is just the years that you were active duty if you were off work and was involved in a car accident for example, that is an in-service event as long as willful misconduct was not involved like drunk driving for example. I have a good friend service connected for his ankle. During his off duty days, he always played basketball and ended up breaking his ankle. That is his in-service event. There was no willful misconduct. He was just playing sports while he was off and suffered an injury in service.
@Kenbot2
@Kenbot2 4 ай бұрын
just to add to my comment. If they said it had to be during duty hours, could you imagine how many claims would get denied? I have IBS at 30% could you imagine someone saying? My IBS only affects me on my days off so it’s technically not an in-service event.😂 it’s just something silly. I thought of after I posted my previous comment.

For those worried about the time it takes to file, or whatever, think of it this way: You'd be an idiot NOT to put in some time collecting evidence and going to appointments for 6mo or more. Because after you do it and look back in 5 years, 10 years, etc. You can look back from the top of your mountain of extra money you've been able to save. Literally tens of thousands of dollars by that point. I didn't file for almost 12 years because I felt since my buddies are dead and or missing limbs MY aches, pains, etc aren't a big deal. WRONG. The money is there for us. Use it.

People always want to diminish someone else's military service because they were non combat. I was infantry on the Marines and didn't get hurt. Joined the Airforce later on, got deployed and got injured doing a training exercise.

@@Salute_vet22 they also forget that infantry and combat arms would all die in field without the millions of logistics and supports in the background.

@@bobbytatum84 becuase they have lawyers who actually fight for you. But they usually get 30% of your back pay or 4-6 months for your Disability. Totally worth it if they fought for you to get 100% tho

I’m in the army soon to be out. Been in 6 years and was wondering what the best route is for comp when I get out. My question is, what is better to go though for my final physical evaluation. An army doc or a VA doc? And why?
