Jason, thanks-brah!!! I had just made an appointment at my local mechanics shop for that fix expecting to spend several hundred dollars for the repair. Shortly thereafter I discovered your video, I called the dealership where I bought my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. They said sure thing bring it in, you’re covered under a special warranty. Two days later I had my truck back, problem solved, ‼️NO-CHARGE‼️ {{{THANKS AGAIN}}}

Had this done under warranty about 2 years ago on my 2017. Always wondered what the fix was. Nice video

Great presentation. Had difficulty on that steering shaft. Had to lightly vice grip the flats then tap back against the vise grip with a hammer to push that shaft into the firewall boot. Very light grip, don't want to distort the tube. The other end at the steering box was crusted in and would not wiggle out. I placed the hook end of a wonder bar under the clamp where the screw was removed and tapped it up while pulling, it finally came loose. I did penetrate oil it, it just needed a start then came right out.

Your video was very detailed and very well done. I was able to remove my vacuum pump with your step by step instructions. The only issue I had was the steering shaft didn't want to slide up into the column due to dirt and rust so had to spray penetrant and work it back and forth. Thanks and God Bless!

Thank you for the upload! Btw. I removed the plastic skid plate to access the bottom steering bolt and I dropped the vacuum pump between the radiator and the cross member. Dont know if that'll make things easier for anyone, but it worked for me. While I'm at it, to save myself some future b.s. I'm replacing all my belts. Hopefully by replacing the pump and the belts, it will solve the couple squeaks I hear upon starting the engine.

Great video, the only thing that i'd add is that I would then remove the driver side wheel and wheel well, and unbolt the ECM and just lay it in the battery compartment. Then i'd remove/replace the vacuum pump from the wheel well. I had issues with the centering pins staying stuck in the block, and didnt see that when working on it from above. Be sure the centering pins come out with the unit or you will have an oily mess on your driveway!

Had this issue for two weeks. Finally researched what it was and went to the dealership. They told me it had already been replaced with the recall back in 2019 before I purchased my vehicle and since it had already been replaced they won’t fix it under the recall. I only have 92,000 miles on it. They want me to bring it in to run a diagnostic test for $160 before they charge me who knows how much to fix it.
@showmemechanics
@showmemechanics Ай бұрын
You can always tell them to change the part and deny the diagnostic as a "customer request". They do do that..they already know that that's the problem, but like to charge you anyway. Anyways. I change them all the time on the same vehicles. It's one of the parts that does fail quite often, but it is scary when your vehicle won't stop no matter how hard your pressing. Thanks for watching, hope you the best in your repair.

Mine is leaking oil badly out of the pully. Got one on the way to fix it. I didn’t know the vacume pumps were related to oil at all?

Is it really necessary to take the AC Belt off?
@showmemechanics

Yes, because the vacuum pump belt is behind it. I always change the belt when doing the pump. If you're not changing the belt, then it can stay on.

And how to delete vaccum pump?
@showmemechanics
@showmemechanics Жыл бұрын
Do not delete it, I can't stress that enough. You need plugs hose's and a v4 bypass chip. It's very dangerous do to that if everything is not correct you will not have brakes
