After having a pack of 2 star wolves at my base for a couple of weeks, I've realized some things I hadn't thought about beforehand. -Wolves will destroy walls trying to attack things that get too close, including deer. -Deathsquitos/Fulings will destroy walls trying to get to the wolves. Whomever gets the first swing pretty much wins. -A single Lox will fuck up your entire pack before you realize your wolves broke down your walls trying to get to it. -No walls are safe from their wrath. -Wolves...never...stop...howling. Ever. Every other sound is drowned by the constant cries of 10-15 wolves. After 30 or so in your pack, this "feature" is extended IRL where even after you logout, their howling will persist in your head for hours.

The 1 star wolf didn't get out, it despawned. There used to be a bug, that if you find a 1 star or 2 star wolf at night and trap it, it would despawn during the day if you are not close enough. Even after taming it, if you let it out of the hole during the day it would run away and despawn. In that situation you would first need to breed the 2 star wolf and keep the puppies since they were born bug free.

You can transport Wolfs with a ship. It's not too tricky to get them on, you gotta build a bridge and break it down beneath them to make them fall on your ship. When you sit on the steering bench the wolf will be stuck in place on the ship and have a running animation based on how fast you are going with your ship. What's funny is that they roughly keep pointing in the same direction, so they function as somewhat of a compass 😁

And i just find this now, 30 minutes after i ran for an hour fixing the walls and freezing my butt off cuz i dont have the gear for mountain area yet. Very brainy, thank you for sharing.

Wolf Training Addendum: June 22, 2021 I decided to go with a Pit Trap dug near my Mountaintop Base. Night 1: Trapped a 1 Star Wolf, Taming completed over the next three nights. Night 5: Accidentally Trapped another 1 Star Wolf in Pit with my Tame Wolf. I was afraid the two would Fight It Out... NOT SO! Wild Wold began Taming Immediately! Night 10: Had Two 1 Star Wolves and a 1 Star Cub in Pit!!! Night 14 (or so) had Four Tame 1 Star Wolves... Dug Ramp and led Four 1 Star Wolves into Base and reset Wolf Pit... Still working on a 2 Star Wolf capture. 😁👍

Wolves spawned in night will always despawn in day. During the day it will try to run away from the player's render distance for it to despawn if it was not aggroed. Starred wolves only spawn at night. Do the standard taming stuff (be in range and give it raw meat or sausage when hungry). You can only proceed taming at night as I said before it will try to flee if not aggroed and if aggroed the taming progress will be halted. Before you try to tame a starred wolf make sure you already tamed a day spawned no star wolf as you immediately need it later. Once the started wolf is successfully tamed, have it follow you to an enclosure AT NIGHT (with double emphasis of at night) with your tamed no star day spawned wolf. Have them mate and never leave the enclosure as the tamed star wolf will still try to despawn if it is morning. Once the starred pup is born, the pup will no longer despawn. The parent starred wolf will try to. The process from taming to breeding will last for 3 day-night cycle for taming and 2 day-night cycle for breeding. That's around 3 - 4 hours. FYI, I have 40 2 starred wolves. 20 of them still in main island. EDIT: Patch 0.148.6 - "Night-spawning wolves should be easier to tame now (should stop trying to run away & despawn after starting to tame)"

after you tame a wolf, will it be docile to you AND other players on the server, or will it only not attack you??

once wolves are tamed, will they protect your base from mobs that spawn in? I haven't gotten any wolves yet just curious, could be some nice defence for a base that has issues with mobs spawning in all the time *(like me)*

Sleeping doesnt help just a quick tip. just tried it on my own wolves and for sure doesnt advance it at all

what item is on your 3rd slot?

Does it matter what kind of meat you use? Do they tame faster with lox meat?

How do i get the wolves to follow me? If a friend tamed the wolves, is there a way to get them to follow me? Just feed them raw meat?

ive tamed a 1 star wolf after taming a few normal onces,but it despawned..then i tamed another one it finished tamig set t on follow opened the pen boom it runs off and dissapaers...then i tried a 3rd time thinking to my self this game is broken or they are updating it or some sheet...then tamed a 3rd one ready wolf follow wolf stay i leave it in the pen with meat thinkng ill get the normal one to ths location,come back wolf gone for the 3rd time..peace fuck this sheet im done !!

if i find myself in that situation @5:15 I usually log out and log into a different world. I'll heal up and log back into that the world that I was in the situation.
