I'll never forgive them for removing the 'echo' effect that was used in Soul Crushes/Big Magic on the PSP version. PS1 version still the definitive.

Despite the big green letters, those attacks are not "Purify Weird Soul", what the screen says is: Technical Arts Energy Charged! Purify Weird Soul! STEP ON BUTTON! Translating to actual english would be: Special Attack energy is charged, Purify this Weird(Evil/Wicked etc) Soul! PUSH THESE BUTTONS! Or something alike that.

No one noticed this in decades because this screen only shows for a few seconds and the game rewards you for skipping as soon as possible.

Good to know but I still prefer to call it Purify Weird Soul or what Valkyrie 2 calls it Soul Crush
