As a general guide this video is good. Watch other makes & models to increase general knowledge - every DIY has it's PROs & CONs. That's why I watched this video. Note: Always give yourself double the time suggested & ALWAYS have manufactory's MANUAL on hand. Again good video.

@@jameserschen1469 Are the valves making any noise? Normally it will be a fast "ticking" noise sometimes louder when the engine is cold and often getting quieter as it warms up. If the engine is running well and not making any unusual noise, you should be ok. There is a lot of info going both ways about this, but if you want to be safe just look at the maintenance schedule in your vehicles owners manual. Look back all the way to 30k miles or so and see if a valve inspection or adjustment is listed up until the milage you currently have. 👍

Could unadjusted Valves make your Accord misfire? I have a misfire in valve #3.

Start with removing and checking the spark plug.I bought fake NGK plugs on eBay and after 30K, they were trashed. I also got misfire codes.

Why and how do you know you need to do this? Also, how often you need to do this?
@MrSupernova1113 жыл бұрын
Usually by the time you have 100k miles you start noticing that your engine sounds louder and makes clicking or clacking noises because there is too much play in the valves. If you have over 100k miles this will help your engine run better and more efficient. The valves control the amount of power your engine produces so if they start loosening up you start to notice loss of power in the car ever so slightly. But the only way to truly know is to take things apart and get in there with the feeler gauges like it was done in this video. This is not required maintenance so unless you have an engine light on this is optional for a smoother running engine. A mechanic should be able to do this for under $200 if you don't want to do it yourself.
@kelseymccarthy24686 жыл бұрын
You explained the importance of allignment of the cams, and adjusting valves in the correct order, then you stopped the video after cylinder 3? It goes 1-3-2-4 then. If you move from 3 to 4 or 3 to 2 there is a difference. What is the correct valve adjustement after 3?!

@RandomAZdude8 жыл бұрын
+neiskyle3 You adjust each valve to the specified gap, there is no way to determine the adjustment by degrees. You need a valve feeler gauge.
@neiskyle38 жыл бұрын
Yeah but i need the right turning of the engine before putting the feeler gauge. Is it ok to have a copy of your manual for valve adjustment. I would really appreciate that

Same for Accord PZEV ??
@jameserschen14693 жыл бұрын
Good question I have pzev too.
@DavidSanchez-ib4ft2 жыл бұрын
@@jameserschen1469 it's the same for Pzev. Valve adjustment is very straightforward. The best way to do it is tighten the adjuster with the feeler gauge in place until it stops. Then back it off a little and move the feeler gauge. As long as it moves and you feel drag on the gauge, you're good to go. I learned to do this on type 1 VW engines. At least with Hondas you stand up. On VWs you had to jack the rear of the car up and do this while lying on your back.

@@Itsme83. ok thank you for writing me back 🙏🏼, I’m hoping it’s a simple issue like yours I’ll be ashamed if I have to get major work done on my first car. it rattles and even when I drive around for 5 miles and come back I’ll let it idle and it still rattle . not as loud but still obviously noticeable. car isn’t overheating. white smoke smells fine . has power on the pedal but maybe it could use a bit more ? Maybe that’s why I’m worried it might need valve adjustment which I know is recommended at 100k miles. will check both tho thank you again
