Guys, I borrowed the ph and what not from some nerds (Jk shout out to aquadiction.world) because I KNOW you guys will want this. It's CRUCIAL to note: I cannot prove or disprove any of these figures, but it SOUNDS about right to me when I was doing the actual figures on these during breeding:
pH: 7.0-8.5
gH: 4-16
KH: 0-10
Water Temps (Ideal): 75F-82F (Mid to high 60s they'll survive totally fine), or 24C-28C
Additional items you will want:
Light Hood to ensure plant growth/lighting: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...
Carbon dioxide diffuser used in unison with Whisper Bubbler:

This is a great video, keep it up! I happen to have this exact yellow, purple clawed vampire crabs! I have 9 of them in a big paludarium and one lonely red devil crab waiting for his new home terrarium. I have them since a month and they are awesome. They love chilling in the waterfall and eat eat, eat! The females hide more than males but i see them from time to time. I give them isopod and gecko foods since i have both and they love the variety of meals. They jump at "crab cuisine" though, and it's fun to watch them munch on it. These animals are very easy to care for so far, they are funny, cute, and curious about their environment. Really fun creatures!

@@juicesarthropods Being an adult is not going 15 minutes away to go get a baby scorpion from a guy even tho I currently have an empty enclosure while screaming "Daaammmmmnn youu Juuuuice" and taking no responsibility for my actions as my 5 rapidly growing tarantulas wonder what the fuss is all about and does it involve crickets. I hate being an adult.

Great video!! Love that you just went bioactive and kept it simple. I went through about a 10 year run of aquatic pets and I'm done 😂 spiders/tarantulas are so much easier. I would see vampire crabs at petco/PetSmart and thought they were super cool but I never got one. I'd love to see your vampire setup- you described it well but would love to see it! 💜

Deal. Ill make a post soon of it, need to tidy the area up a bit - meant to show videos of it but we are in middle of multiple transitions at Juice's Arthropods so ran out of time but wanted to get the general info out before people just starting mass buying these guys without knowing at LEAST the moderate info about them!

I quite love my vampire crabs, and I was *thrilled* to see babies about a month ago. Unfortunately, it cooincided (approximately) with the death of my female, but... babies! Edit: There are CB on the market through a certain fairly wide-spread large-ish-scale CB only frog (etc.) breeder, but I suspect that like most of their species, they won't be regularly available. (Don't know your preference on my naming the merchant, so I'm dancing around that one.)

Haha oh no PLEASE let me know if you know captive bred merchants and I am THRILLED TO HEAR they exist! It was not so easy unfortunately when I got these guys about 8months to a year ago which sucked. IM SO HAPPY YOU HAVE BABIES!!!!

@@juicesarthropods It was Josh's Frogs. But they often breed a species and then rotate out of breeding it (temporarily/permanently) if it's not a huge seller (which Geosesarma obviously won't be). I just checked and, not surprisingly, they're listed as out of stock.

Hey Juice! First time on your channel. Great video, love your thought process, outlook, insight, and philosophy. Was a refreshing take on management. "Leave them alone" lol👍 Now to the part that im bringing up only because you have a video posted that is educating people... possibly beginners and there is one piece of info that is incorrect, and maybe you want to correct it. Not bringing it up to be a d!ck or a know it all, solely to make you aware, as you seem like the type of person that truly wants to help people maintain and be successful with Geosesarma species. "Stay educated".... So here we go...🙈 You state, and I quote..."They will lay their EGGS by the water's edge, so they'll lay them in the water", "kind of like toads and or frogs"...that statement is not true for Geosesarmids...I would urge you to look up the reproductive ecology of this genus of crabs. It is what makes them so unique, when compared to trying to breed other terrestrial or semi-terrestrial decapod species. This special reproductive strategy is what makes them so easy to breed, (even for the beginner) and will hopefully allow them to become species that are readily bred in captivity, so wild populations need not be collected. I won't go in to detail, as I'm sure I already sound like a d0uch3...lol Again I hope this didn't come across the wrong way, just trying to help. Keep up with the cool crab vids, I'd love to see more, and I hope you decide to get more varieties of Vampire crabs, as THEY ALL need to be captive bred and supplied.😉✌️

No no, I actually encourage you to elaborate and by no means take this to be a "douche" statement. You see, I DID try to research Geosesarmids, and while I see anecdotal studies (similar to mine) of the male mounting the female, what happens with eggs and the fully formed crablings (it cant be crablings can it?) afterwards I was truly unable to find definitive evidence of. I knew water took a role, and I saw large swathes of gross sh*t in the water that vanished and a million crabs appeared. So while I am clearly wrong, I actually am unsure what occurs from male mounting to hatching of eggs, so if you know never EVER feel like correcting me is wrong, simply share your findings and I will make the correct and thank you for pointing this out!
