this is such rare footage and I've never seen it before and I had heard that Van Damme was a trainer for Chuck Norris went Van Damme first went over to the United states so it is amazing to see this footage and to think how far Jean Claude went in his career after this. I got to see John Claude at the 2008 Canne Film Festival in France and it was a highlight of my life because I yelled out to him "Jean Claude I love you and give us a kick" while he was being interviewed by press and I was two stories up on the next building and he heard me and he turned around to me and my friends and he said "hey guys" and then he stood on one leg put the other leg in the air and rotated around 360 while doing repetitive kicks and we all went nuts with excitement and I'll never forget it for the rest of my life, he's such a great dude. Love you Jean Claude 😁💗
@zerokiryu6330 Жыл бұрын
I love Jean Claude. He's a cool dude for sure. I don't think he was a trainer for Chuck (correct me if I'm wrong). He looks like a sparring partner or maybe a student of Chuck, not his trainer. Chuck captured the world title when Jean Claude was 7 years old. Chuck held the world title undefeated for 6 years and retired from fighting while Jean Claude as 13. He had a record of 183-10-2. I'm not sure what Jean Claude could have taught him. :)

I've read many times people saying that Norris' kicks were incredibly strong. He's known to be one of the hardest kickers ever. His speed is good, some guys are faster (Bruce Lee was an incredibly fast kicker), but his power was amongst the top. Read an LA Times Sunday article in the late 90's where the writer asked to hold the kicking pad while Chuck did the spin kick. The writer thought he was ready and Norris launched him across the mat onto his ass.

Here's a rough translation of what the narrator says: Visiting Chuck Norris. If you don't know who he is, ask your kids. Karate star par excellence. The number of his fans from all over the world gets bigger and bigger. He is the undisputed champion. He began to train karate in Korea, he was stationed there as a member of the American air force. He came back to America with the black belt and - as Chuck puts it - he became world champion due to hard training and much luck. That was in 1968. Self-defense technique, Jean-Claude is a Belgian champion, currently Chuck's assistant trainer. Hard training, every morning. Ever since the death of Bruce Lee, the legendary star of many karate movies, Chuck Norris is said to be the only successor. Of Course 17 year old Eric admires his father too, but he doesn't want to be his successor. He has to go to school, see you later. He has a very good reputation in Hollywood because all of his movies were big hits at the box office. In private life, the Norrises present themselves as a very happy family. She was 17 and he was 18 when they married. My wife always had a strong influence on me, Chuck Norris says, because nothing came easy and natural to me. The people who nowadays only talk about my success have no clue how hard it was for me. For example, I had no experience at all as an actor, so I had to take acting classes. That was hard training as well and I'm still learning to this day.

After leaving the service, moved to another state and was not able to attend his school again. I learned so much, in a short time, and have applied much of those teachings in other styles of Karate. I do miss those days of ‘68 on 3rd. Street.

For those not understanding what the narrator says: Chuck norris was sent to Korea when he was at military service. He was responisble for kicking to much ass over there so while he was in south Korea the north had to close its borders. Thats why until today Kim jung dynasty are scared shitless and are desperate making nukes hoping to stop him if he returns. Chuck also mentioned training with Bruce Lee and that it was a bit of a challange becuse he got frustrated being hit without noticing. After the death of Bruce, Chuck got his confidance back and north Korea is in rush making nukes. Oh and Jean claude was fascinated by Chuck becuse he invented the splits.

@@UserX860 Hey it's got to be well over a decade since the Chuck Norris jokes were a thing. It's probably ok to drop a few of those now for nostalgia sake. Chuck is in his 80's now and not likely to be with us much longer unfortunately. :|

I'm lucky that i got to see chuck in his prime. I've seen matches that you won't be able to see on KZfaq. Chuck always wore the red pants and he was awesome

You know, after seeing this video, I have more respect for chuck's ability as a fighter. This level of ability isn't really shown in his films except the way of the dragon. His fluid movement, power and flexibility is really impressive.

He was just as good in his early 1980s movies The Octagon, Eye For A Eye and Forced Vengeance. He was at his best in showing how skillful he was.

I wonder what it would've been like for Chuck Norris & JCVD to do a movie together in the early '90s...hmm.

NaughtyDog161 ...been.epic if done right. I think i would have liked to see chuck as a villain to jeans being hero or vice versa. Also would have been good in sense bruce lee worked with chuck and if they did a movie couldve been a passing of the torch with chuck n jean.

VanDamme's movies from the 90's are violent and sometimes they contain sex scenes. Chuck is a Christian and he wouldn't accept those. (Yes, he killed people in his movies, but not as brutally as JCVD)

Legend says, TV Channel spent 100 million for special effects where Chuck Norris kicks Van Damme. Without those effects Van Damme simply turns into dust with those kicks!

Chuck Norris is so cool that van Damme works as a stand for his boxing pillows
@mrv12716 жыл бұрын
This video truly shows what an awesome guy Mr Norris really was and is. Van Damme was just coming up the ranks trying to get a break, if it hadn't been for Norris he never would have gotten that break. Menahem Golam produced many of Chuck's movies and he is the one who gave VanDamme his first protagonist role in 'Blood Sport'. All Chuck had to do was say something against Jean Claude and that would have been it, lucky for VanDamme he didn't and the rest is history. VanDamme should build a statue to Norris in his house, period.

Chuck was impressively flexible & fit here, particularly for a guy in his mid-forties. And what a mean spinning back kick! Jean Claude was always more naturally flexible, sometimes had prettier, more flashy kicks, but Chuck looked like he could really fight (and he trained in a wider variety of styles, more like a modern mixed martial artist).
@eddiesteele74287 жыл бұрын
JCVD has a very respectable fight record. He's like 18-1 in full contact Kick Boxing, and some point tournaments (which is all Norris did) from way back in the day.
@Katzenhase7 жыл бұрын
The difference is that Norris was the best fighter of his era. He beated the best. Many people say that Chuck Norris would have beaten Bruce Lee in a real fight. You can´t compare van Damme to Norris. Norris is even a 3rd degree black belt in Brazilian Jui-Jitsu-
@pablohanc7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you're probably right about him beating JCVD in a real fight. Saying that by Chucks own admission he's never had a proper fight, so there's no telling how he would react under those conditions. JCVD's film however have generally been better than Chucks. Even with the heavy European accent he's a better actor (which isn't saying much), and the monologue in JCVD just shows what he could do if he chose his projects better.
