The first picture i saw of the band was the inner sleeve of Diver Down. My friend had a killer stereo system that we would crank at full volume and party to on Friday and Saturday nights in high school. Awesome times. I loved Eddie's racing flag shirt. 🏁 It was so 80's , this was back in the day in 1982. And i remember seeing Zloz's live shot on the back cover and thinking OMG that's crazy. 🎈

Another good one. Currently paused so I can check out Rival Sons. Nice!

Waldo was a geeky, nerdy character from the Little Rascals / Our Gang shorts from the 30s and 40s.

My babysitter took me to Day on the Green 78 while my parents were in France for a week vacay. I was 9 years old. Her brother was security for backstage and her boyfriend was a Colosseum employee. I was awestruck as a young boy to be in such a place. She took me backstage to piss, she had an access pass from what I remember, and Van Halen just finished their set. This was the catalyst event that spurred my love of Rock N Roll and Metal and VAN HALEN!!!!! I was a lucky young dude. My parents found out what happened on their return and asked me why I kept singing "Aint talkin bout love!!! Cause love is rotten to the core?" and i inadvertently spilled the beans, my mom was pissed but my dad had another take since he was banging the babysitter, the POS. Babysiitters name withheld, she still lives in the Bay Area........GREAT VIDEO!!!!

Between the jumpsuit conversation and Where’s Waldo/Wally questions, I had to turn this off. I’m surprised that Zloz didn’t switch his computer off.

This interview came out great despite the interviewer not asking hardly and questions and just pointing and pics on books. Zloz is pretty funny and down to earth. I cant believe Zloz really watches Gomer Pyle and Green Acres. As a GenX'er who was raised in front of the tv, those shows are just so corny then and 10x worse now as there is nothing wholesome left in this world to now make those shows look insane.

Haha Neil wasn’t familiar with the “Where’s Waldo” character. But yes you are right, Eddies 1981 tour outfit is a mix of Where’s Waldo & Raggedy Andy character. When he was talking about Eddie being pissed at him for not giving him the original photos & the intoxicated call the next day was very sad to me, I wouldn’t have gave him the photos either, he would have lost or destroyed them. I was often scared of the possibility of ever meeting Ed, there are tons of positive meeting examples but I’ve seen the side of his personality where he is obviously a dominant character & I don’t know that I could submit or accommodate it.

The red guitar is an Ibanez or was. I heard it was Chris Holmes (Wasp) to begin with. It had an Explorer body and Ed sawed or tried to modify the body and fucked it up.

you wonder about daves jealousy towsrds Valerie,?.. naaa, i doubt it. i always considered the possibiliy that Dave was jealous of eddie & his notoriety.. you know Dave was needing to be the most visible member but he wasnt. if you look at his outlandish behavior it aligns w his addiction to the spotlight, his inability to hog it all & ultimately his split, not so much from VH but eddie... DLR: "there isnt room for 2 DLR's in VH" survival tactics.

Awesome interview! Listening on my drive to Thanksgiving dinner in San Diego. Just wanted to mention real quick, I would say my favorite Van Halen tribute band now is, Fair Warning. Their singer looks like, and sounds like Dave from back in their prime. And their guitar player is an animal, jumps around, just like Eddie did in his prime. The singer for atomic punks is pretty cool, and the guitar player is good. But just seems kind of corny. Fan Halen was pretty good, not as good as I was hearing or expected. It really threw me off that their singer does have Dave’s rap down, and voice, But just physically, is kind of a bigger guy and was just strange to see in tight pants-for me, ha ha. 😝

I wonder if Eddie told him what REALLY HAPPENED when Sam quit the band . I don't buy Sam's lies about being fired . In the VH3 album promotion issue of THE INSIDE MAGAZINE , Alex Eddie AND Mike all said Sam quit . And in the individual interview with Mike the interviewer told him that Sam said he didn't want to do the greatest hits album .
