You had me from the drive thru Aussie bush. And so nice to hear the Aussie accent in a van build vid. Like your practical approach (v neat job btw). And I loved how this isn't another of those glitzy vanlife vids on KZfaq (eyeroll)

Mate, look on eBay, I just bought the fan-tastic, actually branded Weinhorn, for $150 delivered. It has reverse and also different speeds, a much larger fan too. The trim for the inside is included and comes with a very deep fitting which you cut to the correct depth. True that you need to screw through but as I am replacing a caravan vent there are holes there already. Thanks for the tip about the self adhesive foam strip. I will never use silicon again as it is a bitch to remove and I am on my third vent now as the shit Jayco ones don’t last long (not UV resistant).

I still use silicone to seal it, can be a pain to get it off but more of a pain getting water and mould all through the van. Good luck mate 👍🏻

Thanks for posting these vids! Im doing a simmilar van build at the moment too and now im inspired to share more of what im doing. I bought a 98 toyota hiace LWB diesel and its a great van.. very similar to this as you prob are aware. I have been researching vent fans and the fantastic fans and maxxair's seem too large for this sized van (and freaken expensive). Great to find a good quality alternative. Where did you find the best price for it? cheapest ive seen so far is $219 with free shipping in Aus. Thanks!

I was going to get a fantastic fan as well, but like you the cost was too much, I've decided to get a flettner wind powered vent , they're about $120 n.z dollars excluding gst, but I'm sure if ones enough
@FreedomInMindtv
@FreedomInMindtv 8 жыл бұрын
Yea I looked at those but I really wanted something powered and a large enough opening to move some serious air. Where I am in the summer it gets really hot sometimes so it was pretty much an essential. The one I got has been awesome so far. Thanks for watching!

Did you install this fan after you had already put on the inside roof board? I am sure it is easier to do it before the inside ceiling has been setup but I didn't really think about it when I did my conversion. Thanks is advance for your feedback! Cheers!
@FreedomInMindtv
@FreedomInMindtv 7 жыл бұрын
+Customer Service that is the standard roof board. I found it much easier cutting through both at the same time while it was in place. I just used an angle grinder and it had no troubles going through both. My roof is however only a thin piece of plastic. If you have timber or any insulation it's prob best to cut separately

Hey help me out pleaseeeee!!!!! Ive installed my Fiamma turbo 28 into my van. How did you hook up the electrics I. E. The wires are located within it, but there is no exit for me to put the wires through. Can you send me a picture of how you got the wires outside to be hooked up-to a power supply?
@FreedomInMindtv

+sarah kattau I think when I did it I only realised the issue once it was too late and I pretty much just jammed the cable through.. without looking at it I can’t really help you out sorry and I don’t think I have any photos of it either. Good luck though!

Do you recommend a vent fan over a roof a/c? If so why?
@steviebee1989
@steviebee1989 3 жыл бұрын
Clearly he does not have sufficient battery power to run an energy hungry aircon. The fan alone has very little drain on the car’s battery.

I thought to have a sunroof installed on my roof instead of a fan. Installing a fan to a minivan would definitely raise eyebrows. At least a sunroof will give the heat a place to escape.
@FreedomInMindtv
@FreedomInMindtv 8 жыл бұрын
Thats a good idea! A sunroof will still be great for letting the heat out, only issue i can see is that insects and stuff will be able to get in but depends where you are as to wether that is a problem. As most people know Australian insects are not so nice..
