May be VSX series is good. But The VR isn’t that machine as they have advertised. I own the VR150. I never crank under water or anything. I shower this bad boy like a baby after every time I used it. In just 2 season for fishing striped bass in cape cod canal, this thing is death on me. What piss me off, is it broken while I was cranking a big fish. Send it back to Van Staal, they said the internal component is broken. The service for repairing this damn thing is also expensive. I rather go with daiwa BG after using this reel honestly and truthfully. By the way, nice awesome review.

Thanks for the comment, and yes this is true but I have yet to use it this season, and I will be putting out a field test to put this thing to the test.

@@BeantownAngler its just that.. The cheapest van staal. Previously the cheapest fully sealed reel. Now the cheapest fully sealed reel is the Salt X which has a 4000 size comparable to the VR50. I'm not hating on the reel but to call it the best is a bit much
