In the summer of 2019 I circumnavigated Vancouver Island in my sea kayak. A life time experience of living in the wilderness for 39 days and paddling 612 miles (1135 km). Paddling each day and having a great adventure. Different circumstances and weather made it into a tough tour. Meeting wildlife and very nice people. The trip was planned but things happen. What is it like to make such an expedition and how is it mentally to keep on going every day. And when disaster strucks...
Warning: solo kayaking is dangerous. Do you have the right skills to do this? I have 36 years of experience, sea kayak coach, and i'm not invincible. I calculated that.
Waarschuwing: alleen kajakken is gevaarlijk.

I started this morning wanting to try my first spray deck skirt, but no motivation. Long story short, you played a very important part in another of your videos, then 15 mins of this video and my day had an emergency and your words and teaching made a great day better instead of a great day ending in serious trouble. AMAZING! I watched the second half now, and after a full days paddle, it's lovely to end the day watching you complete your successful, beautiful journey.

Great video, Loved every minute. I used to live in Nanaimo from age 14 to 20 then for a few years again in my mid 20s. It was a great place to grow up and fantastic for the outdoors and fishing etc. I used to Kayak and Canoe around Departure Bay and on some of the lakes. Maybe I'll get back there some time and have another go, I haven't got the experience or stamina to circumnavigate the island though, Putting my socks on these days is intense enough.

Thank you very much for taking us on that trip! yep, tough cookies, very brave stuff - I realized the interconnecting importance of waves-boat-paddler-live even more in those much more open, more rough environments, as I do (for now) only (alpine) inland waters... Impressive Imagery, warms the appetite ;) - and: those trolleys break exactely there. Built my own (out of steel, its a bit heavier, but can be easily serviced and has a very small packing dimesion...). BR
