Nice vid, some additions: - Cats not only eat meat (fish too, learn fishing and cooking and you never have to worry about petfood again, for most pet families at least) - in classic, rightclick doesn't start ranged attack by default (only the skill autoshot does, or macro) - lupos won't deal shadow damage in blizzards classic wow (patch 1.12) - solo maraudon is great for fresh lvl 60 hunters and to get epic riding fast, later you can go diremaul (north? That part with the ogers...) for better gold per hour - some pets deal a shitload of damage when you try to tame them, use icetrap and most pets will be easy to tame - Especially for your first pet: get a full stack of food before you tame one, they get mad pretty quick after tame...

Your editing is seriously impeccable. This whole series is a 10/10.

You can see at 3:24 what made the hunters so special in vanilla->wotlk..... quivers and the enjoyment of creating your own and other hunters ammo in order to use them yourself or sell it in the auction house for 1-3 gold per stack.

It was all of these little inconveniences that made the hunter fun for me. I'm glad in recent expansions they've made things like your choice of pet matter again, but I'll always miss the concept of actually having to track down and hunt often difficult pets to rank up your pet's abilities. Like my Horde hunter having to make it into Redridge at a low level to get a rank of gore off an elite boar.

I miss the classic hunter quests such as getting your first pet, like seriously? That quest taught you how to tame a pet and practically gave you a pat on the head and “good job at making a new friend” once completing it... now they are just npcs that sit there and stare as you pass by to other quests.

Everyone forgets Grunter from Blasted Lands. Unless they patch him with Lupos he has a charge stun. He's a bit tough to tame and it's a long timer if i remember right. Before you tame him his charge has a pretty hefty knockback

I played hunter back in vanilla, i tell you this.. if you are going hunter and mostly pvp you just HAVE to get engineering, also for pve.. you can save entire 40man raids from wipes, use feign death and a engineering item that can ressurect people(sometimes) so if u manage to feign death, ress a healer then u will be able to ress whole raids and also there is a repair bot when people are being frustrated and gear is geting red tc, pulling out robot for repairs and mats makes you being loved by the whole raid! Great and fun class, but this time I will try some new class :)Maybe mage..

But dude... WHAT IS THE BEST HUNTER PET??!!?!?

Professions: 1. Engineering is a must if you plan on saving shit loads of money over the course of classic. Thorium shells / arrows are BiS for all of classic and crafting them on your own will save you A LOT (even if you buy the thorium bars and dense stone that go along with it). You basically go though 14-20 stacks for a night of raiding alone. 2. Making money through herbalism or mining is probably the best options. The same end-game herbs are relevant for all of classic and for your own personal use. The amount of gold you get from skinning might be good at first but will become irrelevant later on; relying on devilsaurs is way too competitive. End game: For most of classic, your damage as a hunter can be competitive with pretty much all dps classes until AQ40 if you are skilled enough (some exceptions when it comes to fully world-buffed fights). When Naxx is released, your overall standing as a dps class noticeably takes a dive due to lack of damage scaling with gear. This is honestly to be expected so no guilds should be giving you grief for this, but seeing yourself fall lower on dps meters is a bit discouraging.

Shiet...I played Hunter in beta and Vanilla and man...we were so confused of how much Willpower we really need on our equipment...since all the leather armor had willpower on it at that time and some people said "go willpower all the way"...yeah, Huntards....till we found out that Agility all the way makes you go brrtrtrtrtrt. Fun times, setting up ice traps in BWL and rolling need on ALL items in MC. xD

This vid convinced me I will go Hunter in Vanilla, which I didn’t ever consider before. I no longer have the time and patience to do Vanilla raiding anymore like I used to. It would be just the perfect thing to relax and tard it up on my own leisurely pace.

Fishing is also a valuable asset for a hunter. Boars, bears, birds and cats will all eat fish. You should only buy food from a vendor only as a last resort. Keep in mind what mobs drop when selecting where you are going to go grind. During vanilla I was questing in Tanaris. A hunter was advertising in general chat offering to buy food for his pet. He had a gorilla and they only eat fruit. The mobs don't drop it and the vendors in Gadgetzan didn't sell any. Thunderstomp is great but it was a poor pet choice for the zone was in. Lol

No point in saying the acronym BWL. The name has fewer syllables than the acronym.

I am going Hunter main, Rogue alt. Two most common classes, but hardest to master. Once I become a master I won't care about raid slots. You can master anything if you have the patience, humility and will to climb the mountain.

Oh my.... I got an ad for some kid with a condition, being bullied in kindergarden and I thought this was part of the video meming hunters

My main character was my human warrior for dungeons and raids, but my hunter was my cash cow. I used him to solo one boss in Uldaman (Galgann Firehammer), disenchant the drops and sell those to enchanters for a nice profit. Each run made me about 5-10 gold and I could do five runs in about half an hour or so. Do that for a while and that gold for your other character's mounts comes in pretty quickly. Generally hunters could do quests which were really intended for >1 players, as their pets were basically like having a tank with you at all times to soak up damage. But this ability of being able to solo most quests also made hunters somewhat difficult to work with in groups, since many never played in groups before and didn't take into consideration that not everyone could feign death when shit hit the fan. I remember one hunter who thought that he could solo the Deadmines all on his own and ended up pulling every mob and wiping our group about four times until we kicked him from the group. Ironically we did better with four instead of five players...

As we now know Lupos will be nerfed since classic running on 1.12 data.

"Aimed Shot" is kinda weird in that one may assume hunters generally do not aim their shots which seems kinda true once you run dungeons or raids with a hunter

Best hunter ammo is Miniature Cannon Balls/Doomshot but ye thorium shots/arrows are easier to get.

there is a lvl 37 rare cat in badlands, which is pretty op. one of the fastest auto attacks. in raids you will be using a wolf though because of the howl. then there are wind serpents, pretty op. they do physical nature damage. pretty high damage output :>

not gonna lie, I miss the little things like these abilities about my hunter...having to feed your pet, getting your pet buffs, having to train higher lvls of pet attacks.

Hunter so many cool side progression rpg elements while leveling. I can't wait to level with in-game music on blast in vanilla. To finally have an mmorpg to play again is going to be awesome.

My first hunter was horde and made the trek to get an owl and man that was a PITA but fun, his second pet was Humar because...well black lion. Later on I made a Nightelf hunter and abused the crap out of shadow meld in PVP.

playing WoW for the 1st time in my life, waiting for the release, and, meanwhile, making a quick recon of NE hunter path I gave a try to a turtle...and he's surprisingly the best for me

Some things I noticed: The stat system (dmg/armor/hp)is IMO not that important leveling up, since your pet will be both tank AND dps while leveling up. It's more important wether or not it can learn claw, screech and dive/dash. 1:10 Cats for example have the highest dmg modifier together with raptors. However in return they are squishier than any other pet, so they might die in situations other pets survive, and pets dieing, that's a time loss which balances out the little faster kill speed a 110% pet has over another. The high attack speed bit is only true on some few cats and completely irrelevant for leveling unless you consider frenzy (relevant from lvl 34 onwards at the earliest). In other words; Cats are more of a pvp/raid pet family. Boars have good defence and their charge is a nice initial bonus threat generated helping them keep aggro, which is good, considering their low damage. It doubles as a quick gap closer too. They are a good single target tank. 1:45 Carrion birds can be considered as well-rounded pets, as they have no penalty or bonus anywhere. This makes them slighly less dps oriented as owls, but as mentioned, the stat system isn't thaaaat important during leveling. That said; since the main point of screech is to aoe tank multiple pets, carrion birds being tankier is actually a plus in my book. 2:55 Cats also eat fish 4:26 Lupos would be best raid pet, yes - Wolves in general are best because of furious howl. The bonus dmg given to your melee group should outweigh claw and +10% dmg from cat. If the fight is to dangerous for your pet, you can keep your wolf at your side and have him buff you instead also. - When choosing a wolf for raiding (in case ofl upos not dealing shadow dmg) good options would be frost wolves (AV) as the fastest pet ingame, or deathmaw (rare in burning steps) or the shadowfang keep ones for fast attack speed (1.3 I think). Broken Tooth is as good as any cat in raiding, but doubles as good pvp pet => less pets to level - Cats are also nice in conjunction with night elves hunters because of prowl/shadowmeld combo. Nice both during leveling and pvp situations Additional mentions should go to: - Bloodseeker bat (zul gurub) => 2nd fastest movement speed pet ingame, 1s attack speed like broken tooth, taking up a lot of space when in the face of a caster, annoying flapping and screeching. - Wind serpents once Lighting Breath 8 (zul gurub again) comes out Both of these mentioned have troublesome diets though. - 5:17 The "play horde" part, is that a joke? Or has it to do with no access to owls early on, no kings/might blessings for you and pet and such? 7:00 That's something new for me actually! Nice one. 7:40 On professions I would add herbalism if the hunter is the only high level character. That is because herbs will continue to go strong on the auction house, especially if you're lucky enough to get your hands on a black lotus. Enchanting's viability will depend on the amount the materials will net you on the auction house. Straight up selling the loot from maraudon in itself is lukrative enough, and with lots of supply may come little in price. 9:20 It also works on shamans in ghost wolf form Another thing: Hunter kiting capabilities allow them to solo elite quests while leveling. Knowing the art of kiting will be useful not just while leveling, but also during your hunter quest, in pvp and during certain boss fights. Also av is a slaughter festival for hunters, because they can pick off enemies from the highest range (especially enemy casters with cloth). You can also use your pet and feign death to your advantage to cap bunkers solo.

Screech is a tanking ability, causing damage and reducing AP of all nearby enemies. Carrion birds have increased base armor, which makes them better at tanking than bats and owls. Carrion birds are the best screech pets.

Hunt ez for newbies ? With min range to show, with pet menagment, not just pet control (you need to feed it to keep it happy), with cc when needed in party / alot/ with 2 extra bags for arrows? Gl :D hunt was easy mod after wotlk, not in vanila :D

Lupos was nerfed in 1.9. Since we're starting in 1.12 he won't be doing shadow damage.

Used to be a website called petopia in vanilla that listed all tameable pets and their stats etc.. Im sure it would still be relevant when classic comes out.

Ah the huntard, my first and main for a while in vanilla. They're good if you can play. I'd always get people calling me a huntard and dueled me. They're always surprised if you have high levels ofnplay.. still rogues are way more fun
