The fact that this didn't devolve into cannibalism or hunting rich people(okay, for a minute maybe), yet still ended up so intriguing and funny is really impressive. These folks are a joy to watch as well, Anya really has that charisma down and seems to understand the movie well along with Nicholas

I feel like the chef did that to pacify the customers. He knew the men would have the feeling to run, so he let them run only to be caught. This would make them less likely to try to run again. The chef also knew that the women would need to be reasoned with by another woman. He gave them a chance to save themselves socially only to find that it was hopeless.

Not her fault, obviously, but although I like her as an actor I find her accent a bit annoying. I think that's because it's inconsistent - it doesn't seem to settle anywhere, not even at a fixed transatlantic point. In some interviews she's sounded wholly American and in others wholly English.

I loved “The Menu”-brilliant! Reminded me of the time when I attended a wine & oysters night at a very posh restaurant and the highlight of my night was spotting a local celebrity, huddled in a dark corner of the bar. He had an entire cheese platter he was guarding and was gorging on and I’d always wondered what he’d be like in person soooo…I approached and asked if I could have a piece of cheese. He responded quite grumpily “no, this cheese plate is the only real food in this ocean of pretentiousness”. He was deadly seriously (and quite drunk), but he wasn’t wrong 🤣.

Brooding, rigid and intellectually calculated but with an emotionally colic behavior that comes off so chilling it makes you afraid. I really like how Leguizamo plays a character here, also being in the Chef.. another classic movie for people in the culinary industry. On top of that, the fact that he plays a movie star criticized for a poor movie earlier in his career, it's funny as it feels like he did appear in every hollywood movie there was for quite some time.

Now, I know that Anya was born in Argentina and raised between the uk AND the us but doesn't her accent sound just a tad bit irish in this interview or is that just me?

I see this get brought up all the time, but what people fail to pick up on that Anya keeps repeatedly explaining is, she was born in the US (Florida) while her family was on vacation there. So it's like trivia rather than identity. After she was born they returned to Argentina at the end of their vacation. So she wasn't raised American, at all. She only came back here when she was older while pursuing her career. And she identifies as Argentine because she didn't even want to move to the UK. I think she said the first year there she refused to speak English hoping it would have her parents send her back cuz she still has family in Argentina. Also... I'm getting a sense that some people find it hard to believe she's Argentine cuz she's white and Argentina is a Latin American country. But if you take a minute to think of the famous Argentine celebrities: Manu Ginobli, Lionel Messi, Juan Martin del Potro, Nadia Podoroska, Diego Schwartzman (sorry, I'm a tennis fan); surprise! Argentina is a predominantly caucasian country. Chile is somewhat similar.
