Vanlife Storytime | Did I Just Witness A Crime? | Are Highways Safe To Drive At Night?
Tonight I found my way to a place to stay for the evening that looked safe and promising however midway through the relaxing portion of my evening something crazy happened and it led me to realize that even safe areas are not so safe.

I honestly thought you were going to end your story with "It was firecrackers" because it is near the 4th. Glad all is well and you are safe! Be Blessed!

I live near there. It is know that this time of the year it was fireworks. It was firecrackers. If it wasn’t, it would have been on the news. I hope this helps you. Arnold is separate from STL from crime. If you would have went a mile down 55, there’s a Walmart Super-center that allows overnight parking.

It is best to be safe than sorry. Be at your sleeping site by dark. You don't want to happen upon road construction in the dark and take a detour and get lost at night or end up in a ditch.. 🙏Safe journey 🙏

I personally try not to drive as much at night and even on this video I wasn’t driving into the night hours. I got there early enough where it was still daylight outside. This happened just after dark.

Is it all possible that one of your neighbors was playing loud video games, like Call of Duty, or something? Im in an apartment, & hear that stuff a lot.

I feel like in the moment it was not super funny, but looking back on it my reactions were just absolutely ridiculous lol at the same time I wanted to share this so people would understand the importance of learning about the danger on highways at night time which I never thought was something that we would have to worry about other than other drivers

@BunnyPlaysHere absolutely yeah. In Australia we have pretty strict gun laws so it is rare to hear any random gunfire here but in the Outback here it can be something to be aware of and keep cautious around rest stops. Keep on adventuring Bunny 💯

Just so ya know...episodes like that are fairly frequent in and around Memphis. They've enlisted the help of the State Police to help curb it, especially on our interstate and the surrounding interstate road/240, but it does still happen. I wouldn't recommend staying overnight at any Cracker Barrels around here. I was glad you and your friends had found the huge Bass Pro to stay in when you did come through. Stay safe!

When I visit Memphis I only stay in two areas... both I feel more comfortable with than the Cracker Barrel. I stay at Bass Pro or across at West Memphis at a truck stop

I'm not sure where this wedding reception at a home was, but two masked men entered to rob party goers and they ended up getting nothing but shot the groom in the head. It was in Missouri. I have to search details. I'll let you know. 3800 block of Neosho in the city's Dutchtown neighborhood at 2:42 pm. Yesterday

we stopped at multiple Cracker Barrels on our way from Phila to Quartzite. Traffic noise was our biggest issue as so many places were right off the major highways. Our friends started calling it the "Cracker Barrel Tour." So glad you were safe but I think I would have been out of there.

I live in a nice suburb of St. Louis, MO. And no, you’re not overreacting! There are some very bad areas that I even stay out of. Especially north St Louis/ north county of St Louis. But sounds like you’re in south county area of STL. But I am a bit surprised, that’s usually a more safer area.

I felt very safe at the place that I went to, but I spoke to the native of the area who said that wasn’t the first time that that happened in that particular area which was really unsettling but also I completely understand things like this do happen

Hi Bunny- first glad you were safe. So sad that these last 2 or 3 generations feel the need to use pew pews to settle arguments or disputes or whatever just sad. I know living in the city my conversations usually begin with did you hear the gunshots…. Funny cause when I drove tractor trailer I had many trips to Chicago and never had any problems or issues but current situation is not that lucky anymore. Stay safe and keep on traveling, I love your findings 👍

I think cities in general sometimes have a bad reputation because it’s not the entirety of the city it’s portions however in this particular situation, this is a major highway and that is a problem

Maybe someone firing into the air? What goes up, must come down….that said - in a house you can be hit by a descending bullet so you aren’t more at risk being in a van (hope that reassures you…😬)

I have been there a few times and not had any kind of issues however, when it comes to sleeping, that is where the issue pops up, there are more limited amounts of spaces that you can feel safe and so I think that a day trip to do the activities and then staying outside of the city is the way to go if people want to recreate in St. Louis and not get a hotel in a nicer district
