I know this song is directed towards a romantic partner but the line "made me look like a fkin idiot at every party" got me through a rough moment with my dad recently. My brother just got married. I'm neurodivergent and have autoimmune diseases that caused me to have to relearn to walk, so this was my first time wearing real shoes again and showing my scars. Towards the end of the reception they turned up the music for dancing. I had a migraine so I stepped away. Apparently that wasn't okay, because my dad ended up saying some pretty choice words to me in front of everyone, including how I wasn't "behaving like a normal person." In 29 years I've never felt so embarrassed. All that to say I cried in a botanical garden somewhere in California to the background noise of 200 drunk strangers and these lyrics repeating in my head.

This song is most probably about someone's ex but this reminds me of Mom. Especially along the line "I can't lie, I blame you for everything" because I am honestly doing that for how my life sucks right now. For all the times she made me feel like everything is my fault, and everyone around me suffers because of my mere existence. I wanna move out and cut her off but everytime I would think about that, I would always feel sorry. Aside from the fact that she would call me selfish & indifferent, I also feel like I would feel guilty (for the rest of my life, at that). Because if I move out, she would be left all alone with no one taking care of her because apparently my brother's been living alone for quite some time now. And she's sick and undergoing maintenance.
