Vax Zoom Pet pink vacuum cleaner lack of suction & brush has stopped spinning I think this description of replacing the hoover band is the most similar to what you need to do for the Vax Zoom Pet vacuum cleaner. Eight screws (rather than five) plus the middle height adjuster to take out on the Zoom Pet. A lot of people seem to search for that one but it’s not covered in any videos I’ve seen. Vax themselves talk about newer machines but our Vax Zoom Pet (a pink one) is less than five years old so hardly very old. I watched a couple of your videos as well as their’s and found yours helpful in giving me an idea what to do (not being able to find our manual). It stopped picking up but there was suction. There was no suction through the head and the brush was very stiff and would hardly turn. That confused me as the advice on here and the Vax blog videos talks about a lack of resistance if the belt has broken. The drive belt (hoover band) had snapped. As it was fully encased in the plastic head I didn’t even realise that the vacuum cleaner had a band, of course it did. I think it had jammed up against the plastic case on the centre side and that probably caused the resistance. Getting the head off was a lot fiddlier than in these later models but it is easy enough, the same with a bit more force to put back. The height adjuster screw is tricky to get out from underneath the little wheels and needs a thinner phillips screwdriver. I bought a new band (drive belt) on the web direct from Vax UK, £4.99 free UK postage. They delivered it exactly when they said they would, though taking six working days (eight days with the weekend) to dispatch and deliver a simple package is rather slow. You might like to remember when you see bands on sale in a shop in case you will need a spare (which I couldn’t think of where I’d seen them when I needed one). Alarmingly the divider of the plastic casing on the inside, lining the belt was jagged with black carbon type coating and had worn through in a couple of sections. I’ve peeled / snapped some of this black plastic type coating off, not all of it will come away. I don’t know if this caused fraying that snapped the belt, if the belt rubbed and caused that, or if the belt having snapped then rubbed the side when we were using the machine and caused that. It may be this is just a residue of grit and debris that built up and was a separate problem as the band appeared snapped not jagged or frayed. Touch wood it is working fine again now.
