I understand that, and I respect it.... but poor animals.... they will be so over populated that they will get sick. if you don't milk a cow, it gets sick.... what about the thousands of chicks that would be hatched. I don't think that gets considered. Like I said, I TOTALLY RESPECT Vegans and Vegetarians, but I also expect my right to eat meat be respected as well. I guess my thoughts come from having a dairy farmer in the family, and a regular farmer as well.....

Tip to picking out mangos: You want to look for ones that aren't too green and have some red and yellow spots to them. But you don't want them to be mushy either! That is if you're looking to each them that day. If you're going to wait and let them ripen a little more, I'd say you made good choices. Haha

Hello lovely family 👋 oh..this reminds me so much of shopping with my Mum 20 years ago when I still lived at home. We would go and do our regular Saturday morning shop for my Nanna who past away in 2011 ( love her dearly) and Mum and I would pick up some food shopping for her and our own home. Now I have a family of my own and I love shopping with my girls. Food shopping is the best. It's number 1 in showing kids or just a great way to live by the food that sits comfy in all our tummy's. In re to the banana's we eat alot each week too and love blending them up to make breakfast smoothies...and left overs are the new thang lol 😄Take care all 👍

Oh! They charged for the cart! I wondered what they wanted the quarter for! Lol!!! I don't think I've ever seen a store charge for the cart? Bags, yes, but the cart?!
@marleenhoncoop41887 жыл бұрын
Brandy Nettleton in some country's in Europe it's normal to charge for a card. And since aldi is originally from Germany they are used to doing it. The purpose of it is to make you return your card to the area where you got it. I must say it works quite well.
@AddictedToMusic957 жыл бұрын
Brandy Nettleton in the UK, you often use a £1 coin to get a cart/trolley. You don't really 'pay' for it though, it's more of a security deposit and you get it back once you return the cart after you're done. (People are known to steal them so it's to try and stop that).You put your coin into the grey box on the handle, and it pushes out the chain attachment from the next cart so you can pull yours away - you can just about see it around 4 mins when they get the cart :)
@mythicaltarot7 жыл бұрын
Brandy Nettleton in Canada we have to pay a quarter and sometimes a loonie (dollar) to use a cart..it's to guarantee its safe return lol though for a quarter I've abandoned my share..pay it forward I guess. ya never know.. someone else could be needing a cart.. missing a quarter lol
@terryand357 жыл бұрын
You get your quarter back when your return your cart to the cart corral. It's one more way that they save on labor (an employee doesn't have to round up the carts) and pass the savings on to the customer.

Craig you and your mom have awesome relationship. I can tell she is just super fun to talk to. I am 47 and lost both my parents fairly young, neither one took good care they were both smokers and I don't think my mother drank anything but Coke/Pepsi. I am not being funny she finally had to drink a small glass of orange juice for health reasons and you would have thought she was gonna have fits. I enjoy watching the banter back and forth between you and your mom. I am glad you guys all decided to go VEGAN together. Which parent do you think was hardest to convince? Do you ever miss any non vegan food? I promise I am going to order ribbon candy from you guys soon and I don't care how I get it as long as I get it. Keep up good work and cherish those parents!
@NoEggCraig7 жыл бұрын
I am thankful every day not only that my parents decided to follow a whole foods vegan diet but that we've all been really close my whole childhood up to right now. Dad was the hardest to go vegan, he will still cheat a little at family parties a few times a year so but I'd still say he's vegan but just in the transition period still. Mom will eat a little chocolate at work, but outside of work she doesn't cheat at all. And honestly I don't miss any non vegan food, it all seems kinda gross to me after not having it for a long time, ya know?
@emilyspinach46037 жыл бұрын

I like your comment about the colorful carrots. Cauliflower is also very colorful, pink, purples, oranges and shades of green, but it was the white version that was commercialized. Unfortunately too, once commercialized and bred specifically for that trait, alot of the natural traits such as resistance and nutrition are lost. I have been trying to cut out animal products from my diet, consuming about half of what I used to before. Still ongoing, will get to veganism soon.
@NoEggCraig7 жыл бұрын

Craig, I swear by the organic dole bananas!! So me and my kids did a taste test on regular bananas vs organic. We all chose the plate with the organic ones! It's not all in your head ;) I love watching you and moms shop!!
@NoEggCraig7 жыл бұрын
YASSS! Good to know it's not just in my head! And in the future we can do more videos like this, especially in the Summer when the candy biz slows down a bit and my mom and I can really take our time with grocery shopping haha
@nicolehopper73417 жыл бұрын
ClaireNicole33 until I was almost 30 I thought that I was allergic to bananas and carrots. I could eat a couple of bites but my mouth and throat would itch. Carrots, especially, would give me a rash along my jaw. If I ate more than a couple bites, my chest would get tight. The first time I ate an organic banana was the first time I was able to eat an entire banana without having a problem, same with carrots. There is definitely a difference between organic and non.
@ClaireNicole337 жыл бұрын
Nicole Hopper That's crazy! Goes to show even more that it's not "all in our heads" lol. We did the test when my mom was here last year from Florida and that day everyone chose the organic again. She was telling me it was all in my head. Ya see, I'm a homeschool mom so we do all sorts of silly little things like this. Such as taking different brands of can goods and taste testing them. 9 times outta 10 we choose the inexpensive ones lol go figure! But bananas, there's no in between! And down here where I live the organic ones are only a few cents (5-10) more per pound than the ones full of chemicals etc... Thanks for your comment & have a great day :)))

Craig 100% correct on the carrots and banana facts. Pretty soon they have to switch the type of banana they will have to sell because the Cav bananas have a type of disease that is killing them off by the plantation size. We have similar issues in Denver CO. Mangos you can eat green but i would suggest a salad with them shredded or a vinegary slaw. Being a professional cook and 95% veg is a thing. Dairy is a hard thing to give up for me because a lot of the "veggie cheeses" have casine in them which is not vegan. Vegan burgers are easy to make. Can of beans mashed with potato masher, 1 cup starch (potato mashed, cooked rice, oats, etc) and a 1-2 tbsp tamato product (paste, salsa, sauce) seasonings of choice and make patties (makes about 4) and refridg for 15 mins. Grill or heat in pan till firm. Awesome combinations can be made from this

kassandra * The shopping cart. You pay a quarter to get a cart and then when you return it you get the quarter back.

kassandra * is deters people from leaving them in the middle of the parking lot, and they also don't need to pay a cart pusher.

Reminds me of where I live in Michigan. I visit Aldi's each Saturday. Ken's Produce Market first, then Aldi's which is right across the street and then finally, if I even need to, head to Meijer. Eh, well, as to the frozen veggies I find the big bags at Meijer (usually on sale for $2) cheaper than the small bags at Aldi's. Your Aldi's looks just like the ones I've been in here. Ah, Triscuits. Those are so delicious. I don't eat gluten and gosh, haven't had Triscuits in, what, eight years? Nine? Coffee oatmeal?! Mmmmm. I've not had good luck with Aldi's produce. Just odd taste, odd aftertaste, not always the best price. So Ken's for produce except sometimes the weekly bag of oranges is a better deal at Meijer. Ooh, have you ever riced cauliflower? Needs to be thoroughly drained/strained in cloth so it's uber dry before used to make it, but it makes FABULOUS pizza crust. Oh, hm, but I make it with Parmesan cheese. There's probably a vegan recipe for cauliflower pizza crust if you're curious. Oh New York! Yah, I hadn't heard of BJs, and while I've heard of Wegman's (sp?) we don't have those here. Blueberries for 1.99 nice price. I so wish I loved those. I did as a child until the age of 14. I contracted stomach flu and got violently ill. For dessert that night had been blueberry pie. I just haven't liked blueberry since. But I want to! Blueberry jam, muffins, oatcakes, smoothes, they'd be so delish. Ah well. Roasted red pepper is the hummus I buy, too. SO good with veggies and beans at lunch or as an evening snack on rice cakes. Mmm is see guacamole. Tortilla chips and guac, man, SUCH a good duo. But I rarely eat either because calories and fat. Even though yes yes avocado is excellent micros and a healthy fat. But I digress. Ah, I can't do spicy. I'm a baby with spice. Is Leah your twin? Morningstar Farms has SUCH delish products. I love every one I've tried but alas, wheat gluten. So I stopped eating it. Egg whites in veggie burgers? Does not compute. Yah there have been times when I've eaten something I was told was vegetarian (back when I still trusted the outside eateries of the world) only to become ill after eating it. Rice pilaf. So back I went to the restaurant and asked if someone would please get a manager then spoke with THAT person about it. He checked the ingredients. Yep, down at the bottom of the list as a seasoning--dried chicken stock. What the hell? So the rare times I DO eat at a restaurant I eat as cleanly as possible and only identifiable foods avoiding sauces and soups in particular. No hissy fit from me either time I was duped (the rice pilaf and an unfortunate substitution of tuna salad with chicken SO sick that time). So no one in your family got sick from eating meat once having stopped? Like your dad who ate it only (eventually) one day a week? Counter chocolate. Hazelnut. it beckons me. I don't answer but it beckons me. In your candy-making, do you use cacao nibs or cocoa powder? Where do vegans stand on that?
