I got mine yesterday and yes I feel the hesitation in pulling hills , I prefer a mid drive feel instead

Exactly my experience. Mid drive is definitely better on hills.

@@EMTBReview While I don't disagree that mids are generally better on hills - I have a hub drive Aventon Aventure that currently puts the Summit to shame on hills in pedal assist. Like you, I find myself using the throttle on the Summit more than I would like. Not sure they will be able to fix with firmware alone.

Pay attention at 4:00 and 13:40 regarding the low power on hills. It's spot on. My experience on it shown in my video very much his (note first E47 issue was addressed): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nLp8e9CdzsfDdGg.html I made the video because Velotric support asked for it - a bit fishy because they already know about the problem apparently. Note the first thing I did was update the firmware so it's still a problem as of this post. This guy was the only review I could find that called it out, so he earns a subscriber.

Nice review! Are you allowed class 2 e-bikes on the local trails?

Usually not as Class 1 is the common allowed emtb on trail networks. Fire roads and private property or small dirt path systems are best for Class 2-3.

I thought it sounded loud on the video too. I just got this bike a week ago and haven't noticed it being this loud in person on inclines.

Downplaying the fact that this bike, with a torque sensor, doesn't apply proper power up hills is typical KZfaqr "keep everything positive so I get more free stuff" style. One should 100% never need to touch the throttle EVER on a bike with a torque sensor. This bike had motor overheat issues on hills early on, so I am guessing that Velotric engineers turned down the power a bit too much, rendering the torque sensor useless, precisely when it's needed most. You should address whether they ever fix that or not in a new video. This is a real issue. Velotric - I call you out! What's the fix?

I believe I'm the only KZfaqr who has brought up this weakness of this bike so you may be a little misguided there. Also, the purpose of the torque sensor is not to deliver more power. It's there to deliver smooth power and respond to rider input in a more seamless manner.

It's really not that bad. What's needed is an upgraded drivetrain. I put on the Shimano Cues 11 speed and it climbs just fine.
