Venice Homeless Encampment Cleanup Receives Support from Local Police

9 ай бұрынOn Thursday, November 16, 2023, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works and Clean Harbors Environmental Inc. conducted a cleanup operation at a homeless encampment located at Main Street and Ozone Avenue in Venice. Workers wore protective suits to safely handle the cleanup, adhering to safety standards.
Residents of the encampment were given 15 minutes by Los Angeles Sanitation to relocate their belongings before the cleanup began, with police officers assisting in moving individuals out of the area. The operation involved the collaboration between two waste management teams: one from the Department of Public Works and another from Clean Harbors Environmental Inc., focusing on hazardous and non-hazardous waste respectively.
The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) provided outreach services during the operation, and no citations were issued under Ordinance 41.18, which restricts the use of public spaces by the homeless.
This cleanup is part of Los Angeles' efforts to manage homelessness, emphasizing the need for comprehensive solutions that address the underlying causes and support those affected.
