there was nothing wrong with the ships themselves they were just being used in the wrong way and the crew were ignoring safety rules to speed up their rate of fire and its ended badly for them.

When did they come along with the Vadore Class Ships? They would have been a match for anything.

@@Vedioviswritingservice ; 1.) The Valdore-type is a post Dominion War ship. 2.) The Sovereign, Galaxy, Nebula, Negh'Var, D'deridex, Scimitar, Hutet, and Dominion Battleship/Dreadnought, are all Dominion War era classes that either are on par or superior to the Valdore-type.

Actions like this are what prompted the use of the remains. But the romulans are only 2 months into the war at this point.

So the Romulans needed their wake up call first. Makes sense.

Interesting they didn’t commission at least 5-10 of these ships to be at the head of major fleets. War could have gone much differently. Then again…with that kind of power the Romulans might very well have not stopped with the Dominion but set there eyes on the rest of the Alpha, Beta and Delta quadrants. Kinda glad the Scimitar was a “black book” program. Still, it lost to a single Sovereign

@@OCDustin Yep but again Sovereign class battleship was also designed likely DURING the war as a counter to the BIG Battleships and Dreadnoughts. Ships that came out at that time were... Wait... Defiant, Steamrunner and such all appeared during the war... were pure warships but were not designed to fight the dominion, they were designed to fight the borg. This was actually the borg fleet. The romulans suffered losses to the borg too... picture if that ship was ment to wipe out borg planets.

@@OCDustin well if your going off the movie technically it didn't lose. Shinzon only lost because he was trying to preserve Picard so he could save his own life. Otherwise the enterprise e would've been space dust. And just going off the statistics of overwhelming firepower the E was horribly mismatched against this ship. Three warbirds and a sovereign couldn't stop this thing if you want to get literal.

@jenniferstewarts4851 very circumstantial the scemitar being definitive in taking out a dominion class battleship I am not so sure it'd be that simple. Honestly I feel either side would probably not be in good shape afterwards so to me I could lean towards it being closer to a draw.

Dominion was prepered fo FED and Klingons but suprise attack of massive fleet alway gonna rusulting in push back defenders. But its look like Dominium had enough reserves to hold that front for a while. They basicly had too all out withdraw after Breen wepons become ussles and puting down Damar Rebelion. Dominium was much stronger or Romulans so weaker then apear that they offensive not ending up in total colaps of Dominium line and forcing them to mount defence where was mounted after mounts of engaments.

Yeah the romulans are probably the most casualty averse combatants. And that will go on to influence their actions later in the war.

Would be the same old Capital ship curse, too costly in people and resources to lose and too much morale damage for your forces but a boost in the enemies moral. So they end up doing things of least import or just hidden away, till some desperate last offensive or be there for the final battles near a victory.

The Romulans just needed to design a ship that fills a role close to that of brell class bird of prey. The Klingon Brell at a bare minimum could be run by crew of at least a dozen or so. Yet the ship itself is large and consideredbly more powerful then it looks. The Brell could on it's own old off several dominon bug ships if the captain was skilled enough. The Romulans never mass produced a ship that was even close to this before or after the war but this is exactly what they needed. The Valdore came close but was too big and bulky to able to fill that role.

@@Tuberuser187 That's more the meme version of capital ship history rather than it always being reality. Historically speaking, only some nations where extremely hesitant about deploying their capital ships, but that's almost always because they where the inferior combatant. So what it really is is the curse of being the weaker power. For example, Nazi Germany, only ever had three battleships in commission at any one time. The Royal Navy on the other hand, had something around twenty. And it showed as the Royal navy was far more willing to use its capital ships offensively, like when it sent HMS Warspite up a Norwegian Fjord to go kill a large number of German Destroyers. Likewise the USN was far less hesitant with its own battleship deployments. The USN often would stick its battleships in front of its carriers and use the absolutely hilarious number of AA guns on the battleship to defend the carriers from airstrikes. This also applies to USN vs IJN in the pacific. the IJN was the far weaker opponent, as such they where far more hesitant to deploy their battleships, as they had far fewer. the Pacific theater also required very fast capital ships too. As such the US Standards as well as four IJN Battleships where not very useful for major fleet actions because they where too slow. The USN also couldn't deploy many battleship in the early stages of the pacific war due to a lack of enough fast fleet oiler's to keep them supplied. Of course logistics itself is an unmerciful thing too. Back during the ww2 period, the major source of oil in the world was the US, which supplied the vast majority of the worlds oil at the time. The Axis powers on the other hand had no access to any of the worlds oil reserves, and had to resort to trying to take it from the Soviets and the Dutch. But for a warship of the time to have the necessary engine power,r they needed to be oil fired, not coal fired. unfortunately, its difficult to deploy a battleship when you dont have the fuel available to run it. The same effect happened in WW1. Germany was the weaker naval power. They had to be cautious with their fleet deployments when the Royal navy outnumbered them two to one.

@@ryuukeisscifiproductions1818 The ships of the Royal Navy and US Navy were not considered "wonder weapons" or super ships like the German and Japanese ones, maybe its a case of propaganda hampering things. Military and politics will always go hand in hand, if you make out to your forces and citizens you have a super ship that can win the war you stand a lot to lose if it sinks. So its very much reality, not a meme.

I see where you are going and one would think that, but star trek and star wars "power levels" are so incredibly loopsided, most ship in the star trek universe would comfortably take down star destroyers with relative ease (not considering the EW capabilities of the star destroyers..) But the yields of photon torpedoes are simply mind boggling (counted in hundreds of gigatons) while f.x the orbital bombardment doctrine of base delta zero in the star wars universe is only a few megatons of "yield" essentially large yield photon torpedoes are almost death star level threat... This is not to attack the star wars universe, by no means. Its just the power balance of the star trek universe is completely bonkers

@@splenditsanguinor Star Trek ships have always had this extreme power level issues. On screen this has always seemed to contradict when they were in combat. Take for example the Breen when they attacked Earth in the Dominion War and they did have several ships for the job. They must have fired torpedoes and energy weapons on the same power levels of federation tech and they only managed to destroy sections of San Fransisco but the city was still there. Yet we know in Discovery that Photon Torpedoes of the TOS era can literally tear apart the surface of a world that could make a Imperium Vessel of 40K chuckle.. Star Wars ships always had similar issues and at most ground weapons at least have stayed somewhat consistent but the larger starships has yes been over the page to. Although to be fair the technology they have is vastly different and almost none of the weapons they use is really energy weapons in a real sense. We know that a Star Destroyer by itself in 24 hours can slag a world and a small fleet can slag one in a few hours. Your right however its a damn mess. Technically nothing Star Trek Fed ships have should be able to reach the powerlevels in firepower your saying just due to the fact if that was true than a lucky hit in space should vaporise any ship they hit. Yet we see ships get hit, damaged and yes blow up from volleys. We've seen larger ships tank torpedoes, and in some cases same torpedoes are so inferior the federation had to create new ones. Makes you think about what the Borg and god knows what the Voth are packing.

@Thorsteinn Allansson depends on the lore. A star destroyer has the energy output to entirely melt the crust of an earth sized planet in 12 hours. Yet it simultaneously can't survive more than a few dozen or few hundred shots from similar capital class weapons. So weapon energy output is far far higher than defensive. And depending on what comic you look at, they magically just die for no reason to a poke. Power scaling is incredibly hard to calculate between the two universes. I don't understand why people take the highest estimates for star trek, and then use the lowest, most random estimates for star wars. Much of it has to be down purely to the dressing up of star treks technobabble as scientific.

The Federation's new Sovereign class ships would be perfect for this role, though at war's end there were too few of them to be everywhere they were needed....the perfect counter to dreadnought-sized battleships

I had the same thought. The d'deridex is much like a huge submarine with unlimited fuel. Attacking a heavily defended position seems stupid. Instead, strike convoys, shipyards, industrial/production centers, and targets of opportunity.

Scimitar is more maneuverable then the Dominion Battleship, and just as heavily armed so I'd say it takes the win 1 on 1

considering how insanely OP the Scimitar is? able to fire through its cloak which has no vulnerablity to Anti-Poleron scans and with its shields up to boot. and that is the version without the Death Star feature.

Adding a Scimitar into the mix would’ve been epic.
