Another great video! It’s got me inspired to tackle some masonry jobs on my to do list. For some reason the top looks like the perfect place for a built in planter to me but the herringbone would look awesome too

I have a similar piece that is an outdoor planter, 1942 built house. I would like to go over the old brick with tile. How would you go about doing that? Is that possible?

Hey Brent. Me again. Looks good!!! I would have added the grout lines but that’s just my personal opinion. I always use my hands when doing masonry just like you 😁😁😁. A concrete slab on top would look awesome. Or teak or some exotic hardwood? Suggestions. Keep up the great work!

Something just doesn't seem right with the bricks hang off a little on the bottom. Some insect can get under there and make a nest.

You always keep it honest and I love it Saul. Didn’t get into it in the video but thanks for bringing it up. That slab was thicker on the backside then that front lip and I wanted to keep all of the bricks the same height so yes there is a slight lip at the front. I’ll fill that space with mortar when I go back and fix the old brick grout lines. Thanks for your continued support.

How would you repair a 3/4 inch vertical crack in width about 3 feet long ? An example would be the flat vertical side of stairs where the crack is. How could you fill this gap as the gap may be 3/4 inch, in width, but the deptth inside the crack is at least 12 inches and 3 feet long?

I think that you should repeat the same floral design that you put on the stair landing. One giant one, or several small mosaics.

I like what you did and appreciate your mention of safety at the beginning. However, I'm a Construction Medic and have seen many injuries. Eye injuries the most common but in one case a worker was cutting stair spindles on his chop saw. He had the spindle away from the fence in order to cut an angle. The saw grabbed the material and pulled his finger in and cut the left index finger off close to the hand...I won't use the medical term. Anyway, it gave me the creeps when you were cutting the tiles at about 4:50. I'd feel a lot better with the tile being against something when you cut.. Things happen quicker than a blink of an eye. Amputations hurt for 3 weeks. Your wife and kids will be crying for days. Trust me, I know of what I speak. Just look up chain saw injuries and chainsaw kickbacks. Cheers and work safe(ly)
