It's not just junk food that has caused the "pompui" epidemic. It also has a lot to do with the proliferation of motorbikes. No, Thais of any age walks anywhere anymore. If you go to Issan, even the 8- year old kids are riding them. I was up in one small Issan village, and a boy was so young/small that he couldn't hold the motorbike up, so he had to get it started and run alongside it and jump on. This was in 2008-9. When I moved to Pattaya in 2002, all the bar girls were slim and shapely. Now I see utube vids of them, and the "slim & shapely has transformed into porky and overweight. So, the "past two decades" statement is spot on.

Look at the Thai food! They always include a lot of sugar, MSG and bad oil! Also, the Thais seems to believe it is OK to feed children all the sweets they want! This leads to an epidemic of Diabetes that again lead to obese and sick people! Blaming a motorbike is a JOKE!! Lol! Take also a look at people buying and eating all these sugar filled cakes all the time! It is like the population is as addicted to sugar as drug addict's are addicted to heroin!! I also wonder why there are not more information and education of the people about the dangers of sugars and the like. I guess that is bad for business, so they don't.

Good point, I'd go further and point out Thais parking on the road in front of 7/11 even though there are plenty of parking spots 10-15m further down the road😆

You mean all the sugar heavy foods, desserts, candies they sell when school lets out is not healthy? You are teaching kids these foods are okay. Teach them moderation, sometimes. Don't think Mama (Ramen) from the grocery are any better high in salt and little nutritional value

The case against sugar, is robust. A diet rich in refined carbohydrates, leads to poor health... But you can't force people to eat a healthy diet. I like donuts and chocolate ice cream.

Why no business? Duty free shop on arrival should focus more for own citizens coming home with added incentives than for tourists. In Singapore, Singaporean usually visited their airport duty free shops because of varying incentives on their return to Singapore.

Burgers are not the problem. French Fries, kfc and sugery drinks , clown meals with highly processed sauces and bucks latte about 400 calories. Put the kgs. They ok now and again but Not all the time. Just look at the Americans.
