In this video I demonstrate Cable Cast-On in slow motion. This cast-on is often called for in patterns when you only have one strand of yarn to work with.
The scarf on the mannequin is Mentolat (not my design, free pattern on Ravelry) using Kramer Perfection DK yarns.
The yarn I'm using for demonstration is Paintbox Yarns Wool Mix Chunky.

This is the cast on I was taught as a child (I'm now 65!), I've always used it, and in common with some other commenters, I never knew other methods existed until recently. Your tutorials are excellent, thank you.

I'm an experienced knitter but needed a refresher in cable cast on. I chose yours because I know you always explain clearly (and your titles and presentation look so professional). The slow motion here was especially helpful. Thanks!

This is the only cast on I have ever known until recently and I am almost 60! Tought how to knit by my mum and nana and I think this was all they knew too.

I love when you said how the slow motion is educational to you too. It made me look at my fingers and I saw that I hold onto my left stitch so that it doesn't fall off with my left middle finger. I successfully did the cable cast-on. Thank you for another amazing tutorial!

Thanks for the explanation because sometimes when I learn new things, (new cast-ons or cast-offs, I generally think that’s what I’m gonna start using from now on not realizing there’s generally a reason,) so thanks for the explanation.😊

Well I thought this might be a different way to cast on but its the way I always use and I don't use cable needles either specially if theres a lot of stitches to cast on I just use normal needles and have used this method of casting on ever since my mother taught me to knit and back then there was no computers to show you how.

Very nicely explained and shown in slow motion. I used a crochet hook in the right hand and knitting needle in the left hand because the crochet hook helped me draw the loop out from between the two stitches easily.
