Sometimes a child will get you in the right headspace so you can put all other BS aside and live the life you were meant to live. A pregnancy can save your life, especially if you're battling depression.

Watching this scene brought me back to the scene when Maya is telling Carina that women firefighters have to report their pregnancy 'Day One'....so it's interesting to see how this storyline will unfold. Because like Travis said in the episode Vic needs to be at work doing the job, not home alone.

I thought that firefighters not actively looking for a pregnancy would use a long-term birth control option. Is that accesible and affordable in the US? Or all these unplanned pregnancies plots in tv series are just for the sake of drama?

I think when she was mourning Miller and was pretty much drowned in sorrow she probably forgot to take her pill that period. Assuming that's the form of birth control she was using,then there's a high possibility that's what happened. Also, It's often just for the sake of drama. Lol

@@xty070 Even if you take the pills every day you can get pregnant, they are not 100% safe. Someone who is sure she doesn't want a baby at all should really use a more permanent birth control, like tying the tubes.

The pill is the most common method of hormonal birth control used in the USA, so even if it wasn't the smartest choice for a firefighter, the storyline itself isn't a stretch.

How can she be a first responder and not know that birth control pills are not 100% safe? Plus, she is pregnant, not dying from a lethal disease, it's not as dramatic as they make it seem. She can have an abortion, they are(still, at the moment) legal in US.

Having an abortion if vic decides to do so would still be a big deal. You have to be emotionally in a good place to have a kid but at the same time abortion is no easy decision.x

Ok I'm kinda mad with this idea. I mean not even make sense. like came from nowhere. it's impossible that she's pregnant before the accident bc they would've find out on the hospital. and after. she's was grief in so deep. Theo was barely seeing her. he literally complain about it. then that unnecessary kiss with jack but was just this. a KISS. she say it. now she's pregnant and i two ideas of why the writers made this and i don't like either one. first they will put a flashback between her and jack and will be his baby. second "my body my rules" plot. and that wold be so sad. she already been through so much. she loves being a firefighter she literally said once that became a momm wasn't in her plans, and the fact that she was using pills confirms that. and whem Maya and Carina was talking Maya mentioned that has to notificante day one her pregnancy. so whe gonna have to see her suffering about keep the baby or not. everyone probably judging. fighting with theo when he figure. while Carina and Maya try hard to get hers baby. seriously that would be freaking sad and messy i don't want at all. look at her scared face. I can't

I think they could be leaning towards my body my choice like you said. But it is possible it was conceived a few days to a week before the accident since it takes several days for it to implant she may not have been far a long enough for the hospital to detect also since both her and theo were happy together at that time they could have slept together the morning of the accident or the night before and it would take a few days to actually conceive the child meaning she wouldn't have been pregnant yet but her body was in the process of conceiving when everything happened. It's a stretch but it is a possibility and probably the only way since as you said she was recovering then they started having issues.

I see comments here that talking about how it was a bad storyline to use on Vic. I disagree. Vic has chosen to be childfree and the storyline with her getting the abortion is important. It helps communicate that these situations also happens to childfree women and abortion is always an option. You don't really see many storylines in television with abortions. It's very often just women getting pregnant unexpectedly and then they decide to keep the baby. I think with everything going on with Roe v. Wade, this storyline couldn't have come at a better time.
