My sense is, especially having spent time in Haiti, that it may be very difficult to find the "real" thing while employing the police and bringing weapons etc.....People in the countryside would recognize immediately that these are untrustworthy, government affiliated city folk from Port au Prince and act accordingly....In this case getting as much cash from the gringos as possible...

I'm Haitian also. Those old Bokor saw Hamilton as a mark, and they scammed him. That's all. Doesn't mean psychoactive drugs don't exist, doesn't mean Haitians can't concoct diffirent brews and soups from scratch to help sickness. I've seen my Grandmother concoct a soup from various plants for my Aunt who had a flu, and she was feeling better within an hour, and this was in America. In Haiti they don't have Walgreens on every corner, so they use diffirent herbal remedies, from various plants.

The ending was the funniest part of this documentary. We learned that $1000 dollar powder was a mere bottle of expensive sand, the "Zombie" was indeed a poorly trained actor, and the priest (or whatever they called him) was just a con-artist,like the man before him. He definitely got the last laugh. As we saw in the end, a smirk filled with pure satisfaction from his "work" paying off. Priceless LMAO!

This was amazing even he got scammed. It showed a true attempt to try and find these zombies with no clear answers. That should tell you there is good reason to doubt it's real, if anything.

the only saving grace of this episode was the zombie coming back to normal in part 6. his other episodes were better

He definitely found scammers but at least he tried. The fact that nothing was sure of legitimacy but he still kept going for the sake of discovering even the least amount of new knowledge calls for respect at least on journalism grounds, making fun of his voice or anything unrelated to the lack of new information found is just people basing their judgment in anger because they felt they wasted their time, such a fallacy, when people attack hamiltons appearance because they felt they wasted their time. No one wasted your time but yourselves, honestly, because no members of vice held a gun to your head and forced you to watch. It was actually very informative, most articles I've read won't even mention any of the ingredients but the puffer fish's toxins and the zombie cucumber, or that zombification was a form of criminal punishment. Crescent pretty clearly spotted that cop that came along for added security, he made his paranoia concerning gov't authority pretty clear during the first visit and showing up with a government agent was a final nail in the coffin. It was a suspiciously large bottle for a powder that is supposed to be so powerful.

I loved the movie The Serpent and the Rainbow with Bill Pullman. It is the only fictional/horror movie to date that explores the Haitian zombie phenomenon. It's a great movie too. This documentary did a decent job, and Jack Skellington was in the groove. Sometimes he just seems like he doesn't care about the amazing places & people he gets to meet; like he'd rather be somewhere else. At least in this I one he seems more interested in what he's doing.
