I've been a builder for over 50 years in Michigan and Florida and I never seen such a horrible concrete pour. Those cracks kept me up all night thinking about them. Whoever poured that mess should refund you at least 50% or more of the cost. Your such a nice guy Derik, please do something about it and don't let them get away with it.

You have a big problem Derek the boards that are nailed to the posts are not going to hold the roof up with any weight. There is nothing for wood supporting those boards from crashing down with the weight of snow or heavy rain. Poor construction choice here. I hope you tell these guys that is not acceptable in any way. This must be fixed or you will lose everything you have in the building. I am a construction guy I know what I am talking about. thru bolts will not cut it. Inspectors will fail this method all day long in Wisconsin. People need to tell him this message

I remember as a kid dad had a driveway built... huge dirt burm later and me as a 7 year old = best week ever. I couldn't wait to get home from school and get on that dirt mountain. we lived near a civil war battle site (battle of Richmond KY) and I actually found a lock mechanism for a rifle. yeah dad appropriated that. I think my uncle who's a history buff has it now.

I'm from Ontario Canada so excuse my head scratching if it passes code down there, but take a look at your beam details and make sure it's correct. The beams are side mounted to the posts which is usually a no-no because your entire roof load is relying on the nails and bolts fastening the beam to the posts rather than the beam sitting on top of the posts.

I agree with the guys talking about the cracks on your concrete slab. I’m doing construction for 20 years and you haven’t had that poured that long. It should not crack that soon after they pour yes concrete, my crack, but it shouldn’t crack like that those look. structural I would check those before you start building. Easier to fix it now than there’s a building on top of it

Recommendation for those cracks, expansion joints and pock marks from those support nails. Have the contractor, or you can do it it’s easy, put in a product like Sikaflex. It fills those areas yet stays flexible so it expands and contracts with temperature changes. It also keeps water from getting under your slab.

Im a little surprised about the cracking all over I would think they would haves used wire mesh lifted on "chairs" to keep it a few inches off the dirt to get the concrete all around it. Might have stopped that cracking some and also a vibrater along the sides to fill voids. Once you start putting cars in there with their weight might crack more. I wonder if the concrete was the right mix and strength and when the cold hits it might crack more.

@karlwithak. concrete can be poured in the winter. A ground thaw unit should have been used in conjunction with concrete blankets to heat the ground before the poor at 185 and then set at 75 for the cure . That concrete work is terrible
@66skate
@66skate 3 ай бұрын
He's in the South where the ground doesn't freeze, so I don't believe the time of pour was the problem.. The contractor is getting the blame here when it may be Derek trying to save money, even though he can well afford to do things right. He had a big problem at the other garage with water drainage that seemed obvious and cost a bundle to correct after the fact. Derek mentioned saving money so many times, you would think he was on a shoestring budget. Someone did a study a while back and concluded that Derek brings in $141 per minute day in and day out. This was even before Mottortrend and O'Reillys and what other projects, so money isn't an issue here.

Any plans to put some type of screen to the bottom of the rafters, under the lean to, to try to keep the barn swallows, pigeons (aka sky rats) from nesting/crapping everywhere?! Building looks GREAT!!

Looks Awesome Derek, that floor is not right, I think they crowned the dirt to save mud. thinner in the middle then the on the edges. but outside that nice building. as far as the gravel goes around the outside. not sure if you have finished it or not but I cannot emphasis enough, put down a good geo fabric prior to back filling with stone. And, if you can find or budget it, go with crushed concrete, and have it rolled after graded out. It will seem like you poured a slab...👍

What a nice building. Hard work makes a dynasty. I would beware of the drip off the roof lean tos rotting out vehicles that stay a long time. Yes. Super garage. Regards, Stephen.

Derek, truly God has blessed you, Jessica, and the boys mightily. You showed such Christ-like care, compassion, and concern. You helped the gents with the fouled hose and air compressor, cleaning up, gathered the left over wood (Which you kindly gave to another family), it goes on and on. You do the work of His Kingdom! You all do! It is a joy to watch your videos and I can see you all truly enjoy these blessings. I pray over you all for security, safety, joy in your heats, and peace. Your children are seeing how hard work from their Mother and Father, keeping it Christ centered, brings abundant blessings. Gob bless you all! ~John
