Neil Peart of Rush used temple blocks during the middle sections of "The Trees". That was the first time I ever heard the instrument in action. It's a cool sound.

These things came from a Chinese/Japanese instrument called a Muyu, or Mokugyo

Sounds like those Japanese sticks which the Japanese musicians hit against each other at appropriate times of performance.

Very nice explanation. It would have helped if you had presented a comparison of plastic vs. wood for the wood block presentation. Love Vic Firth....always a quality company that has never let me down.
