Just get the book David Garibaldi put out years ago Future Sounds. And it pays to be able to play these at slower tempos - cleanly

“I think it’s the ‘e’…”, “I think it’s the ‘e’’s and ‘ah’s’…, “Something like that…” If I was taking a drum lesson and the teacher said things like this, I would never go back. Especially after they just blazed through some busy flurry of random notes with no musical context or purpose whatsoever. Vic Firth, is this what you’re promoting? You have Mike Johnston on your roster and you put out videos like this?? This is lowest common denominator stuff. Please do better than this.

@@chepss I’m not saying I don’t understand it. I just can’t see the educational value enough to make an instructional video from a major manufacturer in the musical instrument industry. Go watch one of Johnston’s videos, any of them, and tell me this is even in the same ballpark.

I’m not quite as down on it as you, but I see your point. The Tube is full of players smashing out some pattern and 200 bpm that just a “look at how fast I am” vid

@@moondoggy684 I get it. And I’m not trying to troll the drummer. I’m sure he’s a good and accomplished musician. I’m saying this is not the type of quality educational content I would expect from VF. They’ve done much, much better over the years. Yes, I know the goal is to sell drumsticks, but c’mon. This is not up to the standards I’ve come to expect from Vic Firth since I’ve been playing their sticks for literally 4 decades.
