Well I haven’t lost sympathy but I do understand where her roommate is coming from. If this lady didn’t clearly have a disability, yea I’d be like ok this person deserves this and my sympathy is gone but she can’t see she’s being scammed because of her disability. She clearly needs a full time caretaker and for someone to take guardianship of her.

to me, Linda is the hero of this video. It's easy to be sympathetic and understanding in a 5 minute video call. It's much harder when you have to live for 2 years with someone who is using your name and your address to set up money mule accounts, and likely wasnt the easiest of roommates. Yet Linda took the initiative to help and stood with Michelle throughout.

I have known of 20 something’s in a nursing facility. It happens. Sometimes the family aren’t able to care for the person properly. Sometimes the person has no where else to go and a multitude of health issues like this lady has. Who knows. I hope the best for her. It’s definitely a sad situation and she needs some guidance over her life and finances.

See I feel the opposite. If Linda is a caregiver, her client was giving away a third of her income and laundering money under her roof for two years. If she is a roommate, she seems lovely and it’s nice of her to help Linda with more than the average roommate, but as a paid carer she needs to do better.

I'm an American woman who's lived in Italy for decades and used to do volunteer work at a center for the elderly that then became a shelter /community center for immigrants. In the short time that I remained there, I met a lot of people from Nigeria. They were not stupid people by any means. Every one of them that I spoke to blamed the situation in Nigeria on colonialism and what came afterwards. They look at Europeans and North Americans as being responsible for the situation in their country. That's why I believe that the scammers are morally ok with doing this. In many cases I would agree with you, however, it is very clear to see that this lady has development/mental issues. Those I can give a break and so should you. She likely never was the smartest person around and that is fine, that is not her fault, some people just have things wired differently. I got two neighbors like that who are medically low IQ, this lady no doubt has the same thing going. On top of that, she lost her husband and daughter in a short time, without a doubt that did a number on her too and she has to deal with HIV+. She lives a very isolated life and probably doesn't get much love from anyone cause those she had love from are no longer alive and with HIV+ she is very scared to go out there. She is venerable and just wanted to be loved, just wanted to be made feel that she does matter to someone. That stuff does things to you. You might not know how it is, but many people are lonely out there and to them it means the world if someone just say's hello to them. I work in public service, I can see what a simple hello does to people, what a simple "Have a nice day" means to them when they leave again. The twinkle in their eyes, their whole body language shifting for a moment, just to have someone acknowledge their existence, even from people who aren't having development problems. So try to get a bit more empathy. Yes in many cases it boggles my mind too how someone in a relationship, who isn't the most pretty of them all, dumps their partner for a young beautiful woman/guy and then has a surprise Pikachu face when it turns out to be a scam, but for people like this woman I have empathy cause she is very vulnerable and needs to be protected.

She has an obvious mental disability, and is reckless with her online activities that has the potential for causing damage for other innocent people. She has no idea what she is doing and no insight of the harm she is causing to herself and others. She should only use the internet under supervision.

Linda does call her a roommate, which implies that Michelle pays rent. I don't see that as taking advantage of someone. As for Linda's attitude while talking to the real guy, I can understand. She was probably happy that finally she had something concrete with which to convince Michelle that she isn't a match for him and so will stop engaging with the scammer.

So sad! Did you notice the uncanny resemblance of Lynda, frenemy of 1st order, to Disney's animated character Maleficent? Look at Lynda's grin when the real man whose photos were used to scam Michelle, the kind Koke [sic], is offering verbal support to Michelle. If one Googles Maleficent from the 50's or 60's movie and looks at that false friend grinning and smiling at the gentleman, all while she's spewing smug comments, disparaging Michelle while Michelle is off camera crying - then she is offering Michelle cursory pats when she returns - the evil ugliness in that Lynda's soul is patently obvious.

These people who scam vulnerable women and men are usually heartless. We have so many such men in Nigeria. They don't want to do any meaningful work and earn a living, they prefer to prey on the trusting, gullible, disadvantaged women anywhere in the world. I believe that such men should die by public hanging or firing squad for the heinous crime of destroying the lives of total strangers. I'm sorry for suggesting such harsh penalty but it's the only way to restore sanity in Nigeria. The activities of these scammers have given Nigeria and good NIGERIANS a very bad image. It's really pissing me off!
