Nice intro lol - You explained bit rate in the first 5 seconds like a pro. My Sony X3000 records up to 50M at 60P. So I've been playing around with rendering at different rates to see what looks best at the most optimal size.

apart from resolution and bitrate what would you say is the biggest factor in quality? I film with an LGV40 smartphone and 1080p30fps uses 24mbps. I also have a gcam mod installed on the phone and it gets the same picture quality at 1080p30fps with only 2 thirds of the bitrate

@@wallinggraham3836 Compression is extremely important. Your GCam mod probably has H265 enabled which allows for the same resolution at a much lower file size (smaller bitrate)

Thank you man!, this really helped a lot! Before watching this i knew that bitrate had something to do with quality, but i had no idea how it really affects it and how important it is. I also knew beforehand that my videos were of poor quality because the standard bitrate premiere pro gavve me was pretty bad, so I just cranked it up all the way, leaving me with huge file sizes and long exporting times. The insight on the bitrates different video types/movies use was really helpful and now I sort of get what i should go for!

OMG THANK YOU!!!! I'm in the process of buying my 1st professional camera and was getting really confused. I'm practicing with a friend's camera at the moment but she doesn't fiddle with the settings so she's as clueless as I was with bitrates. This really saved me I have just one shot at getting this footage and 3 days to fully understand how bit rates & interlaced/progressive scans worked.

Excellent video Kellan! I was watching this while transferring MOV video files to my external hard drive because I'm editing a short film. I was wanting to better understand why transferring speeds slow down and speed up.
