Even as someone that has done a pourover a day for a while, having the scale take all the thinking out of brewing would be nice especially when I want to try a different recipe. Also the flow rate feature is neat especially with espresso, though I hear the Pearl sometimes can't fit under a portafilter If I didn't just get the Pearl in black for a good discount I'd be interested in this S model. They should have switched to USB C from micro USB!

A dollar store will give you almost 300 scales for the price of this one🙄 Go and thank it for displaying numbers even if its wrong🤪

Hey! Great video :) so is there any reason to get the Acaia pearl over the pearl s? It seems like the s is the same but with more features. Does the original have a higher sensitivity? (Same question for the lunar, does it have any advantages except size?)

The Pearl S features a new dot matrix LED screen, a new rubberized base to prevent slipping, and a smaller heat-resistant silicone pad. It also allows the user to track flow rate, and will prompt the next steps in a programmed brewing process. Both the Pearl and Pearl S have the same resolution (1/10th gram). For someone new to pourover, these extra modes and guides are invaluable. If you're experienced in home brewing and the new LED lights and base aren't enough to justify the price for you, a standard Pearl is a great choice. The Lunar has similar features to the Pearl, but with some modes more advantageous for espresso. The Lunar is also waterproof, making it ideal for placing under a group head.

@@primacoffeeequipment Ohh, that makes sense! I guess the biggest thing is that flow rate for me. Although I do love the form factor of the lunar :( Excited for the hiroia!

Have you tried the lunar for pourover? I know it’s not ideal but I’m only choosing one for both espresso and pourover
